Here we are! Kulang pa me sa tulog, actually.
If you have been here with me since the start of my writing journey at Wattpad, then you know this is one of those special days.
Seven Years, Baby!!! Seven Effin' Years!!!
From Pinoy Gay Love Diaries to The Lost Conyo, parang it's a long long way to look back on. I still remember struggling to get people to notice or even consider reading The Coño Boy. And nagulat na lang me na kahit papaano, slowly, through the years, I found people who grew to love the characters and the stories they exist in.
To those na became my friends, no words would suffice. Know that I appreciate you. Share tayo sa kabaliwans of this world. There's just so many great memories to look back on: Moving from FB to Wattpad, yung 30 chapters lang daw isusulat na inabot na ng 90 plus, Watty's Awards nominations, Inaway ng mga writers na mahilig sa questionable relations between adults and minors, inaway ng mga readers na mahilig sa inC3$t and r@p3, writing all over the PH [Laguna, Pila, QC, Iloilo, GenSan, Pampanga, Zambales, Olongapo, Tagaytay, Ilocos], writing some chapters while still in Bangkok, writing updates during taping breaks, rejecting offers from other platforms, hundreds of cups of coffee [ Thank you CBTL, Sbux, Coffee Project, and si Kuya Jackie na utility namin sa set sa ABS-CBN], the pandemic, 6 books, delayed ending for book 5, Joaquin, Sean, Jake, Kelso, Taylor, Goz, Migs, Drake, Segismundo, Rafael, Matthew, Timothy, Bret, Neo, and three relationships later... Wait, four na pala as of July 19. 😏🤣
Speaking of loss, I still grieve for Tito Peque Gallaga and Gilda Cordero-Fernando, they have been influential how I tell my stories —you can see that in book 5. Which I promise to finish by October.
Like I said before, I cannot write about something that I know nothing about. I think naman in the world-building of The Coño Boy, you felt like home.
Looking back at all that, I can be nothing but Grateful. I got this far because of all of you.
Today, I would like you all to offer a prayer —not to the gay bathalas— but to whatever divine power you believe in, for a dear friend of mine. He started out just like many of you, a reader. Nakilala ko siya during the peak of the first COVID lockdown and I have counted him as one of my dearest friends since then. He doesn't want me to name him, pero to be very specific, he's halfway through his chemo, and he needs all the strength and help he can get. Hey J, if you can read this, please hang in there.
And I will also pray for you, my readers, for whatever struggles you are facing, and whatever pain it is in your heart that needs easing.
There is so much to live for.
I think there's still more stories left in me.
So here's to Seven Years!
Again, THANK YOU!
