Cole woke up a bit groggy, he felt the soft bed, he smelt something coming from the kitchen, something good, he wiped the sleep out of his eyes and saw it was bright outside, this room was unfamiliar to him. He looked to his left and saw... Adrian? How exactly did this happen? Suddenly a sharp pain shoots through his leg and he flinched, which woke Adrian up.
"Huh? Oh your up finally." He says yawning.
"Uh I guess so, what happened last night?" Cole asks innocently.
"You don't remember? Cole you were shot in the leg." Adrian says worried.
"Oh... I see." Cole sits quietly for a moment. Thinking about yesterday, he remembers jumping through the air and then an immense pain that radiated through his entire body starting from his leg, I really got shot huh?
In that same moment he was filled with an intense anger, why the hell did he have to be so weak? He should be able to stop something like a measly bullet, if only he was better prepared he could've done something- anything!
Adrian, catching on, put his hand on Cole's shoulder. Cole looked him in the eyes and realized he was going to far, he wasn't alone anymore, he had Adrian now at least.
"Cole.. you don't have to get so worked up over this, at least we both made it out alive right?" Adrian's voice was so comforting he just wanted to listen to him and believe everything would be ok, so he did.
He pulled Cole into a tight embrace, he thought if he let him go he may just disappear. Cole couldn't remember that last time he had been hugged before so he squeezed Adrian tight as well, and they stayed like this for a while.
Finally letting go of one another Adrian then perked up and said with more of that chipper tone he always had. "So.. when did you plan on telling me about your fire powers or this tattoo of yours?"
Cole had completely forgot about his tattoo when he woke up, it was uncovered, he wasn't even wearing his jacket or his shirt.
"My tattoo? Well it's not something I really like to talk about with anybody." Cole looked away when he said this almost like he was ashamed to have shown someone.
"Well why not? I mean it looks pretty cool." Adrian says innocently.
"You think this looks cool?" He says gesturing to his arm.
"Well yeah, it's a sick design, besides can't you get this removed if it's just a tattoo?" Adrian proposed.
"Well I've tried getting it removed, but it's like its a part of my skin, I can tell this is where my power comes from." Cole states disappointed.
"I can't stand the look of it, I wish I hadn't been born with powers, it doesn't even feel right." Cole was looking rather depressed.
"Oh come on don't talk like that, I mean think about it, without your powers the other day we would've been totally dead right now." Adrian speaks candidly
"I guess so.. but still, why me? I just want to know why I had to be born with powers, and not normal like other people." Cole responds
"Normal? I wouldn't say that.. but I understand, maybe one day we can work together and find a way to get you 'normal'. " Adrian says shrugging
"Heh, I like how your always so positive, where do you get that from anyway?" Cole asked
"My mom probably, she's a nurse and a great cook." He stated confidently
"So that's her cooking? smells good."
Cole's stomach rumbled when he said that
"Well why don't we go eat then?" Adrian says chuckling
"Heh, yeah." Cole chuckled sheepishly
