He swings open the bathroom door fresh out of the shower, Adrian goes down to the basement to see Cole's condition. When he saw him his heart sank a little, the heart monitor, the ventilator, it was all a lot to take in no matter how many times he came down here, but he swallowed his concern and followed his mothers advice as best he could.
"Hey Cole it's Adrian, I just came to see how your doing."
"..."
He took a seat next to him, careful not to move too much.
"You know in school today we played dodgeball, I used the technique you used and grabbed multiple balls with my water, it was pretty awesome." Doing good so far..
"..."
"Oh yeah Dustin is doing better, I think he'll be able to go back to school soon too, then you can join us as well..." Oh no, I gotta change the subject quickly.
"Uhm but heh that was the most exciting thing that happened today, oh did I tell you I started working out too? I kinda took you as inspiration so I figured I should 'bulk up' haha."
"..."
He did a flexing motion but soon realized he couldn't see him.
He scooted a little closer to grab his hand.
"Oh yeah I almost forgot, my dad spilled the pot of food he was cooking on the stove haha, man it was.."
His laughter faded as he started to think about what happened just before the pot spilled.
"It was messy alright." He pauses for a solid 10 seconds.
"Well, that's pretty much all that happened today, see you tomorrow."
He kissed him on the forehead but just before he got up he felt a small squeeze on his hand.
"!!!"
At first he didn't know what to even think, it nearly scared him but it seemed like Cole was trying to say something.
"C-Cole?! Are yo- Can you hear me?" He stuttered out
After a few seconds of delay he felt another squeeze, a little stronger this time.
He really can hear me! I need to get my mom.
"Ok uh hold on I'm gonna go get my mom, I'll be right back Cole!"
He gently lied his hand on the bed and rushed out of the basement when he was met with a familiar face.
"Oh, hey Adrian you goo-." Dustin greeted.
"Hey Dustin guess what?! COLE SPOKE TO ME!" Adrian interrupts.
"O-Oh really??" Dustin exclaims flabbergasted.
"Oh well not with his mouth but like basically yeah!" Adrian says smiling.
Dustin saw him begin to look like his old self again.
His outburst caught his moms attention and she rushed into the room.
"He spoke to you Adrian?" She says somewhat excited and surprised.
"Well no he just squeezed my hand a little, but he can definitely hear me!" Adrian corrected.
"That's still an improvement from his previous condition, this is excellent news Adrian." She says happily.
"Heh heh, let's go talk to him." Adrian says.
"So Cole's finally started recovering huh? What a strong young man." Henrick chimed in.
"Dinner is ready when your all done just so you know." He says.
"Thanks dear, now lets go see how Cole is doing." Stated Olivia.
