A couple weeks went by and Cole and Adrian had become good friends, things were looking up for Cole, as far back as he could remember he never had many friends, if any, so this was a first.
Adrian figured for the last day before returning to school, they should go down to the amusement park.
"What the hell is this place?" Cole ponders.
"You mean the amusement park? Man you really don't get out much huh?" Adrian says.
"What? No, I get out plenty, I've just uh.. never seen one of these before." Cole shrugs.
He couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him, but he tried to shrug it off, he was here with his friend Adrian so he was going to try and focus on that.
"Well in that case I can just show you around then!" Adrian says excitedly.
"Also, are you sure you want to wear that hoodie? It's gonna be hot all day ya'know." Adrian says curiously.
"Don't worry I'll be fine." Cole blows it off so Adrian shrugs and moves on.
"So this is a roller-coaster?" Cole says.
"Yeah! You just get in, buckle your seatbelt and... I'll leave the rest as a surprise."
Upon hearing that Cole got anxious.
"Ok Cole, you ready?" Adrian was beaming.
"Um yeah, when does it star-" ZOOM! The roller-coaster took off immediately.
Cole was screaming while Adrian was laughing, when he could he took a breath in to try and calm down, while racing through the air he looked at Adrian and saw him laughing and in that moment he felt just a little more calm, and just like that, he began to enjoy the ride.
Adrian took Cole through various other rides and had them play many different games together before they were out of money. It was dark out and now they were the only ones left.
"Haha that was fun wasn't it?!" Adrian says still full of adrenaline.
"Hell yeah, that was awesome, we should go again sometime." Cole says smiling at him.
-On their way home-
"Say, can I ask you something?" Adrian says with a curious look.
"Sure, go ahead." Cole responds.
"Do you wanna spend the night at my place tonight?"
Even though it was such a normal question Cole had trouble formulating a response and it came out as a weird jumble of words.
"Iwoulofcourseto."
"Uh.. what?" Adrian looked at him quizzically. Oh shit oh shit oh shit what the hell was that?! I gotta say something! "I said I would lo-"
Suddenly, a loud noise came from his right ear and a flash of blue flames, there was a smoking hole in the ground, a bullet hole. his heartbeat pounded louder than ever before in his ear, he immediately began to sweat and he was so strangely aware of his surroundings, his ear was ringing from the sudden noise. Just then he grabbed Adrian and engulfed his legs in flames and blasted him and Adrian over to a sturdy looking wall. More bullets rain down from an undeterminable direction as they travel one shoots right through his leg.
"Gah!" Cole let out a pained cry as blood rushed down from his thigh, before he could collect himself he heard a bullet ricochet off the concrete wall he landed behind, just barely missing him. Adrian was in a bit of a daze but he understood the situation well enough, he saw how shaken up Cole was at this and racked his brain for an idea to get them out of this.
"Cole, hey, calm down take slow breaths, I have an idea to get us out of this."
Coles leaned in and listened closely. He was surprised but he nodded his head and agreed.
"Aaaaany minute now boy." In a large building far away from the two was a man, wearing a large cloak covering his entire body equipped with 2 rifles, one on his back and another focused on the wall they were hiding behind, he had some kind of scope attached to his head, protruding from his temple which amplified his vision even further which let him read vitals of people he was looking at.
"I shouldn't be missin' nobody with this gun, how'n the hell did'e even dodge the first one? I know I had ma' reticle right on his dome." Inquired the stranger.
Suddenly a large plume of smoke expands rapidly from behind the wall, the man was confused at first and zoomed out to look for them to no avail, but now he had some interesting new information.
"So.. the other one's got water." The man stood up as the rifle went into his body and he calls someone on his phone.
-At Adrian's house-
The two bust down the door and slam the door behind them, Coles leg was bleeding profusely so Adrian helped him lay down on the living room couch. All the noise woke up Adrian's parents.
"That you Adrian? What's with all the noise?" A tall muscular man who's presence filled the room immediately with faded blue hair, he had a decent but small beard, he carried himself with a casual importance, not at all worried about how he was portraying himself.
"Dad! Can you get the first aid from the kitchen?" Adrian says frantically.
Noticing the situation his father ran to the kitchen and got the first aid from the cupboard. "We're going to need your mother for this, Olivia! Get in here."
Cole was barely keeping up with what was happening, he looked up at Adrian and heard him say something he couldn't quite hear as he passed out.
