Cole had never used crutches before so getting back to doing things normally proved difficult, but he was determined to walk again, Adrian was helping him get back on his feet. Today was his first day back to school with crutches and he did not feel ready for that.

"I've never gone to school with you before!" Adrian says beaming.

"I don't go to school with anyone." Cole says dryly.

"Well there's a first for everything I guess." Adrian says shrugging.

They enter the school and eyes were on them immediately, Cole's anger began to flare up when a familiar face showed up.

"Hey guys!" Dustin says timidly.

"Hey Dustin!" Adrian says while Cole simply nods at him.

"I just couldn't help but notice you guys since everyone is looking over here.. So what happened to your leg?" He stated.

"I got shot, lets go to class." Cole says irritated.

"Sh-Shot?!" Dustin blurts out but quickly covers his mouth.

More people turn their eyes but they are all ignored and they head to class.

In history class the teacher handed them all a worksheet to fill out while they watched a video. Unfortunately the video was about a previous war which made Cole uncomfortable.

"Cole, how'd you get shot? Were you and Adrian-"

"NO" Cole nearly shouted.

"Oh s-sorry I didn't mean anything by that I jus-" Dustin stammers.

"No.. I just, this doesn't have to do with Adrian, or well.. not like that, he didn't shoot me." Cole says.

"Something interesting going on back there boys?" The teacher says.

"No, were doing just great back here." Adrian saved the day once more.

"Well just keep it down so other students can listen to the video, Cole." Mr. M says sternly.

"Ok." Cole says uncaring.

The teacher turns the video back on and things were quiet for the rest of class.

In science class they were dissecting an entire pig Dustin was absolutely revolted and couldn't stand near it so he just gave them the instructions needed.

"Cole, you doing alright, in our last class you seemed.. irritable." Adrian questioned.

"Well I don't know I guess seeing that video so soon messed me up." Cole says disgruntled.

"I see, maybe it was a bad idea to come back so soon." Adrian sounds disappointed.

Cole never saw Adrian look like that before, it didn't feel right, he wanted to fix it.

"What? Oh you thought I was serious? No way ha." Seriously lacking in social skills Cole barely made it through that sentence.

But it was enough to make Adrian chuckle a little so that's nice.

"Wow, I've never seen you try to cheer me up before, how adorable. Well ok if you say so." Adrian says with a smile

Cole felt good about that, if he could keep him happy he had to be doing something right.

"Alright well if you guys found the lungs you should be inside the stomach by now." Dustin intrudes.

"Ah right, you mean this?" Adrian pulls out the stomach and shows Dustin which makes him gag.

"Haha, your so squeamish." Adrian laughed

"That's sick Adrian!" Dustin proclaims.

Maybe things aren't so bad, Cole thought.

-Later-

At lunch they decided to tell Dustin the details of what happened to them.

"And my mom said something about his femoral vein and it needed to be healed so she patched him up real good." Adrian says waving his hand.

"Holy crap, it's a good thing you both made it out ok. Well mostly." Dustin responds.

"Yeah, no kidding." Cole states.

"Well anyway we should totally hang out more Dustin." Adrian speaks.

"Huh? Oh well I dunno, my parents wouldn't want me going out without their permission." Dustin says embarrassed.

"What'd be the harm in that? Surely you could just ask them right?" Adrian responded

"Well maybe.. I don't know, they're kinda... strict." Dustin looks down in shame

"Look, even if they don't agree, we can just sneak you out of your house anyway!" Adrian's confidence was intoxicating but motivating.

"Hey look Adrian we don't have to push him-"

"I'll do it!" Dustin interrupted

"That's what I'm talking about!" Adrian shouts proudly

"Guess it's settled then, good luck." Said Cole.
