After their cinema experience, Y/N and Minji climbed into Y/N's car and began the drive back to the school. The atmosphere in the car was filled with a warm, contented silence.
Once they arrived at the school, they walked hand in hand from the parking lot to Y/N's room. They knew that Tokki would be waiting for them.
As they opened the door to Y/N's room, Tokki bounded towards them with joyous barks and wagging his tail furiously. The small dog leaped into Y/N's arms, showering her with kisses and excited yelps. It was a heartwarming welcome that made both Y/N and Minji laugh.
Y/N gently put the dog back down, and he immediately turned his attention to Minji, offering her the same affectionate welcome. Minji knelt down to pet him, her smile radiant as she interacted with the furry ball of energy.
"I'll feed him," Y/N said, her hands rifling through one of her drawers in search of dog food."Okay," Minji agreed, glancing at her phone. "I need to do some homework, so I'll head back to my room."
"Actually," Y/N hesitated, still rummaging through the drawer, "can we talk first? Or maybe after you finish your homework. It's not really urgent, so it can definitely wait."
Minji paused, her expression softening. "No, it's okay. We can talk right now."
After taking care of Tokki's needs, Y/N returned to her bed and settled down beside Minji. She offered a small nod, a mixture of nerves and determination in her eyes as she looked at the girl beside her.
"Is everything okay?" The Korean inquired, her concern evident in her voice and expression. She shifted her attention fully to Y/N, waiting for her to start the conversation.
"Do you know where you're going to college?" Y/N asked, her curiosity piqued.
Minji gave a thoughtful nod. "Not for sure, since it depends on whether they accept me, but I do know where I'm sending my applications."
"Really? Where?" Y/N inquired, genuinely interested. She enjoyed getting the chance to learn more about Minji. "You've actually never told me what you want to study."
"I want to study Literature," the Korean replied, her cheeks turning a light shade of red. "Many people think it's cliché." She continued with a slight shrug. "And two places I know for sure I'm applying to are Seoul National University since they have the best course here in Korea, and the University of Toronto. There are some other options too."
"That makes sense," Y/N remarked with a nod. "You do love reading and writing in your journal." She paused briefly. "Why Toronto?"
Minji's smile grew warmer. "I've always wanted to study abroad, but my parents are worried about me being alone in a country where I don't know anyone. Their friends, my foster family from when I was in middle school, offered to take care of me there. So, yeah."
"That makes sense," Y/N replied, snuggling her face into Minji's neck.
"Do you know what you're doing in the future?" Minji inquired.
"I'm not sure of what I want to study yet," Y/N confessed. "I think I have an idea, but I want to make sure. But I'm going to California. I guess, that's what I'm worried about, about what this means for us."
"Yeah, the distance," the Korean frowned, hugging Y/N closer to her.
"Yeah."
A silent moment passed between them, both lost in thoughts of their uncertain future together.
"Hey, it's okay," Minji reassured. "We have time to think and plan. Together."
"I'm sorry if I'm putting pressure on you or troubling you," Y/N apologized. "But you said we should communicate."
