The day after the carnival, Y/N found herself amid a lively classroom break, deeply engaged in conversation with her friends, Jennifer and Hussey. They had taken over their usual spot at the back of the classroom, huddled together, animatedly discussing their latest plans, classes, and weekend escapades. As usual, Y/N was the center of their group, her sense of humor and cheerful demeanor never failing to lighten the mood.
Just as Y/N was about to share an anecdote from the carnival, a sudden shift in the atmosphere grabbed her attention. Minji, the center of her world, strolled into the room with a purposeful stride. Y/N's heart skipped a beat, for she hadn't expected Minji to approach her. Their interactions had been tense since the carnival, and Y/N couldn't help but feel nervous about what Minji might have to say.
"Hey, you have a minute?" Minji asked, her voice tinged with a hint of hesitation.
Y/N turned to her, surprised by the unexpected request. "Right now?" she inquired, glancing around the bustling classroom. She had anticipated that they would have a more private and unhurried conversation.
Sensing Y/N's uncertainty, Minji quickly clarified, "It's not about... that."
Y/N's curiosity piqued. She nodded and replied, "Oh. Okay, sure."
Minji gestured for Y/N to follow her, and they made their way to a quieter corner of the room, away from the prying ears of their classmates. Minji seemed to have something important to share, and Y/N was eager to listen and find out what was on her mind.
"So, I heard a few girls talking about how they heard a dog barking last night," Minji explained, her tone cautious.
Y/N shifted uncomfortably in her place, feeling a pang of guilt. "What? Really?" she replied, scratching her neck. "I'm sorry. I don't know why Tokki wouldn't stopped barking last night."
Minji's expression softened as she reassured Y/N, "It's okay, but we need to do something."
"I know, I don't want to get you in trouble, so I'll try to think of what to do," Y/N responded.
Minji leaned in, making sure no one was listening, and then shared her idea. "I actually may have a solution, if you like it, of course."
Y/N's curiosity was piqued. "What is it?"
Minji's eyes darted around the room, ensuring their privacy before she explained, "We can take him to my house."
Y/N was taken aback. "What?"
"I've been thinking about this for a while," Minji continued, "and I already spoke with my parents. They'd love to take care of Tokki until we finish school. We can visit him every weekend if you want to."
The unexpected offer left Y/N surprised.
"Wow, that'd be great," Y/N replied, taking a few seconds to think. "I mean, I'd miss him a lot, but I guess it's the best option. But are you sure it won't be a bother to your parents?"
Minji reassured her, "No, it won't. They like pets, and we have a spacious backyard."
Y/N felt a wave of gratitude and relief. "Thank you, Minji. I'll make sure to pay for his food and everything he needs."
"Of course, we have to take care of that little cutie." Minji smiled warmly. "I was thinking we'd take him there this Friday after my parents arrive from their jobs. And I thought we'd also have time to, you know, talk about us."
"Sure," Y/n agreed, but after her eyes caught Wonyoung entering the classroom, she remembered she already had plans. She cursed internally. "Oh, wait. I can't this Friday, actually."
