Y/N was only thirteen when she got her first girlfriend. Their relationship was innocent, characterized by blushing cheeks whenever they mustered the courage to hold hands. Y/N was head over heels in love, and she decided to share her newfound happiness with her mom one day after school.

"I have a girlfriend," she announced with a serious tone as they drove to the golf club after lunch.

Her mom initially laughed, thinking it was a joke, but her laughter intensified when she realized her daughter was being sincere. "Goodness, Y/N, you never cease to amaze me. You genuinely believe in love."

"Well, of course I do. I love her, and she loves me," Y/N replied confidently.

"You're as idealistic as your father," her mom chuckled, bringing the car to a stop. They were parked outside a house they visited occasionally, although Y/N never understood why. Her mom would always go inside for a couple of minutes and then return, never explaining the purpose of these visits. "I won't say anything more because you'll come to realize I'm right when either she betrays you or you betray her."

The girl shook her head fervently. "She won't do that. I won't do that."

On Monday morning, Y/N awoke feeling like a zombie, having only managed four hours of sleep. The prior day and much of the night had been spent in bed with her phone clutched tightly, anxiously awaiting a response from Minji that never came.

Y/N  thought about the dream she had. She loathed having that recurring dream, mainly because, in the end, her mother's prediction had proven correct. Approximately a month into the relationship, she caught her girlfriend kissing a guy from their class. It had been Y/N's very first experience with heartbreak, and it left an indelible mark on her.

With great effort, the tired American managed to drag herself to the bathroom for a much-needed shower. She'd woken up earlier than usual, with the intention of visiting Minji before school started.

After dressing, she took extra care with her uniform, making sure it fit correctly, without the usual baggy look, and even took the time to put on the tie. Then, she fed Tokki before leaving her dorm room, only to pause hesitantly in the hallway.

Minji hadn't responded to her texts, and the silence spoke volumes. Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that Minji probably didn't want to talk to her at the moment. So, she wrestled with a dilemma. Should she respect Minji's space and not push further, or should she attempt to reach out, risking further anger? It was a tough decision, and Y/N was unsure of what the right course of action truly was.

After a few moments of contemplation, Y/N decided to respect Minji's apparent desire for space. She realized that pushing further at this moment might only exacerbate the situation. With a heavy sigh, she made the difficult choice to let Minji be and headed toward her classroom.

Each step felt like a lead weight, and the anxiety weighed heavily on her as she walked alone.

She suddenly encountered Hanni and Danielle on the way to her classroom. Unable to contain her concern, Y/N asked, "Hey, have either of you heard from Minji? Is she okay?"

Hanni, defensive and still upset about the situation, retorted sharply, "Why do you care? Shouldn't you be off somewhere making out with Wonyoung, cheater?"

Y/N's brows furrowed in frustration as she defended herself, stating firmly, "I didn't cheat on her. Does Minji think I did?"

The girl felt a deep sense of repulsion; she held a vehement disdain for cheaters.
