On Saturday morning, Minji and Y/N quietly loaded Tokki's belongings into the car, making sure to avoid any noise that might disturb their schoolmates and alert them of Tokki's presence. The sky was just beginning to lighten as they carefully stowed away the dog's food, water bowls, and favorite toys.

Once everything was in place, Minji gently opened the door to the back seat, and Y/N coaxed Tokki inside with soft words and reassuring pats. The pet wagged his tail eagerly, he was clearly excited.

With the puppy settled in the back, Y/N slid into the driver's seat while Minji took her place in the passenger seat. The American navigated the car through the still quiet streets, heading towards their first stop: a pet-friendly café where they planned to grab breakfast. As they drove, Y/N reached over to adjust the volume on the radio, filling the car with soft tunes that matched the serene atmosphere of the early morning. Tokki sat contentedly in the back seat, occasionally peering out the window with curiosity as they passed by unfamiliar landmarks.

When they arrived at the café, Y/N found a parking spot near the entrance, and they stepped out of the car, stretching their limbs after the short journey. Tokki bounded out eagerly, his tail wagging in excitement at the prospect of a new adventure, he sadly didn't know many places outside the school. Together, they made their way into the café, greeted by the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

Inside, they found a cozy corner table with enough space for Tokki to sit comfortably beside them. Minji took a moment to order their breakfast, selecting a variety of pastries and coffee for themselves, along with a special treat for Tokki from the pet-friendly menu.

"It feels like a family trip, doesn't it?" Y/N joked as she gazed at Minji.

Minji's eyes sparkled with amusement as she nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it does," she replied, her voice soft with warmth. "Except our kid has four legs and a wagging tail."

"So, what happened with your dad last night?" Minji asked as they drove towards her parents' house after breakfast.

"Well, he came to talk about Sarah," Y/N replied solemnly.

"Who's Sarah?" Minji asked trying to remember anyone with said name.

"My mother."

"Oh."

"Apparently, she's married again," Y/N continued. "Her husband called my dad asking if we've seen her."

"Wow," Minji replied, at a loss for words. "Are you upset that she's married again?"

"Nah. She doesn't love him anyway."

"Why did he call your father, though?" The Korean frowned.

"He said she's been struggling with her drug problems, and she went missing, but honestly, I couldn't care less."

"Was she always into drugs?"

"Yes," Y/N answered, pausing before continuing. "Every time we would go out, we would stop at this house, and she would make me wait in the car. She'd be gone for a few minutes and then come back. I realized when I was older that she was buying drugs or getting high. When I asked what we were doing there, she would never say. She would tell me not to tell my dad."

"I'm sorry, baby," Minji said softly, reaching over to hold Y/N's hand resting on the gear shift.

"It's okay. Not the worst thing she made me go through," Y/N tried to joke, masking the pain with humor.

As they arrived at Minji's house, the land stretched out, vast and beautiful, adorned with trees, lush green grass, and all the trappings of a serene landscape. Minji's parents were already waiting for them, standing near the entrance. Minji's mother's face lit up as soon as she caught sight of her daughter, and she exclaimed, "Minji!" in a mixture of joy and reproach. Immediately, she began to scold Minji for not visiting in three weeks, her words a mix of scolding and affection.
