Chapter 15

Once done with the basic necessities for the mission, Y/N left, without a word to anyone.

Some workers saw him on his way out, but were too terrified of his expression to even make a single sound  without his permission.

This was NOTHING like the Y/N everyone knew. Y/N was a guy who won't even hurt a fly.

But this Y/N, this... Person, felt as if he would straight up kill you for looking into his eyes.

It was nighttime, as Y/N had almost left the premises, when he stopped as he saw someone standing in front of him.

Nezuko.

Y/N: ...

Nezuko walks up to him and takes his hand.

Nezuko: Hmm hmm.

She rubs her face across the back of his hand, but Y/N moves his hand away.

Nezuko: *tilting her head* Hmm?

She suddenly hugs Y/N tightly.

Nezuko: Hmm...

She softly rubs Y/N's back.

Y/N keeps staring at her, as a extremely small smile comes up on his face, and he hugs Nezuko back.

Y/N: Maybe... Maybe I won't kill ALL the demons... One single exception...

The two keep hugging for a while, then Y/N lets go of Nezuko.

Y/N nods at her.

Y/N: Take care of everyone.

Nezuko: *proudly* Hmm hmm!

Y/N's smile extends by a millimeter, as he pats Nezuko, before leaving.

Kagaya was sitting in his room, when his daughters knocked and entered.

Kagaya: What is the reason you had to come to me, my daughters?

Daughter #1: We would never doubt Oyakata-sama's decisions.

Daughter #2: But...

Kagaya: *smiling* Hmm?

Daughter #1: No matter how much we give it a thought...

Daughter #2: We can't figure out why Oyakata-sama would send the Nature Hashira out of all Hashiras.

Kagaya: Oh?

Daughter #1: Among the Hashiras, he is the one who is suffering the most from Mr. Rengoku's death.

Daughter #2: And yet, you send him to deal with a demon, which from the looks of it, seems like another one of the Twelve Kizuki.

Kagaya softly smiles.

Kagaya: I understand your concerns. And I will provide you with the reason as well.

He looks up, as we see that his illness has increased its effects on his face.

Kagaya: This is a test for Y/N. If the Tsugikuni blood still runs in his body, he will prevail.

Daughter #1: But what if he doesn't?

Kagaya smiles.

Kagaya: Then I give you my word that I will personally look at the fact that he regains his pacifism. And I, for one, believe in my children, so no matter how terrible the decision may seem for now, I'm sure that the ones loved by him, and the ones who love him, will help him prevail as the victor of this test.

We see Y/N walking with a killer look on his face.

Kagaya: I believe in you, Y/N Tsugikuni.

Y/N reaches the village where the demon spotting were reported as the first thing he sees, is people crying at the limbs lying on the ground with the  head of the killed right beside the limbs.

Whoever this demon was, he clearly thought of human life as nothing but playthings.

Y/N's grip tightens on his sword's handle, as he looks around, and sees a man sitting quietly with the limbs of a small boy and his face lying in front of him.

Man: My son... He... He killed my son...

Y/N walks up to the man and gets on one knee behind him.

Y/N: I am here to kill the demon that has been terrorizing and devouring the people of your Village. I am the Nature Hashira, Y/N L/N, at your service.

The man looks at Y/N in disgust and anger.

Man: You...? How could you even THINK to compare yourself to the Nature Hashira?! The nature Hashira is a kind and soft man! And you! You are nothing of that sort! I have seen that look before!

He points at Y/N's eyes.

Man: Those eyes... They contain nothing but hate for the demons! You're not the Nature Hashira! Don't make such jokes!

Y/N: I assure you that I AM the Nature Hashira.

Man: Look! Demon Slayer or not, you don't deserve to cover the Nature Hashira's loving behavior with the rash one of yours!

Y/N sighs, as he decides there's no point in arguing with this man.

He looks up at the sky as the vermillion hue was turning into a prussian one.

Y/N: *looking up* Tell everyone to go in their homes, or homes closest to them right this instant.

A lady nods as she starts to tell everyone to go inside.

Lady: Everyone! Get inside at this instant! If you're at a distance from your home, get in the house closest to you!

In just a matter of a few minutes, the village was so empty, that one could mistake it for an abandoned one if it wasn't for the lights.

Y/N unsheathes his sword.

Y/N: Total Concentration. Constant.

His veins pop up in his arms and neck as he looks around, hoping to get a glimpse of a demon.

Suddenly, he hears the sound of anklets crinkling against each other. Y/N snaps his neck towards the source as he sees two figures coming towards him. The dark covered their bodies in such a way, that only their silhouettes were visible.

Demon 1: *broody* Man, I can't believe we get to clean up.

Demon 2: *cheerful* Cheer up, bud! We will get the brains, won't we?

The first demon had two horns protruding from his head, while the other had a single, long one.

The second demon sees Y/N.

Demon 2: Hmm? Oh, look. Seems like the humans are giving sacrifices now! Come on! Let's devour him together! Cheer up!

Demon 1: *pointing at Y/N's sword* You... You're a Slayer, aren't you?

A scowl forms upon Y/N's face.

Y/N: Demons...!
