-Earlier that day, at Butterfly Mansion-

Shinobu puts the test tubes down as she keeps staring at the wisteria potion in front of her.

???: Shinobu-sama.

She does not move.

???: Shinobu-sama...!

Still no response.

Kanao: Shinobu-sama!

Shinobu snaps out of her trance.

Shinobu: *startled* H-Huh?

Kanao: Are you okay?

Shinobu: Ahem. Yeah. I'm fine.

She takes the test tubes and starts to walk away.

Kanao: *smiling* It's about Y/N, isn't it?

Shinobu stops moving.

Shinobu: I... I have no idea what you're talking about.

Kanao sighs as she realises that she needed to knock some sense into her sister.

Kanao: Sit down, please.

Shinobu: Ara, I'd love to play with you, but I have work-

Kanao: *stern* Now.

Shinobu pouts, but takes a chair and sits down.

Kanao: Now... Tell me what's the problem.

Shinobu: I told you there's no problem. ^_^

Kanao: Is that so? ^_^

Shinobu: Yes. ^_^

Kanao: Then you don't mind me telling the other Hashiras that you like Y/N, right? ^_^

Shinobu: Ara, you would do no such thing. ^_^

Kanao: You didn't deny it though. ^_^

Shinobu: ^_^

Kanao: ^_^

Shinobu sighs.

Shinobu: Yeah, fine. But I can't do anything about it. I'm gonna be devoured sooner or later anyways.

Kanao: But what does your heart say?

Shinobu: Heart?

Kanao: Yeah. Someone recently told me that if I can't decide on something, I should listen to the voice of my heart.

Shinobu stays quiet for some time.

Kanao: Well?

Shinobu: ... What my heart wants... It's quite obvious, isn't it...?

Kanao: Then I suggest you listen to it.

Shinobu: But...

Kanao: Shinobu-sama, we all die one day or another. You say that you would die by getting devoured by that demon, but you could die right now, maybe by ingesting some sort of poison, or maybe a natural disaster. That only means that we should try to make the best out of every day we live. Who knows when it could all end?

Shinobu: ...

Kanao: And you ingesting all that wisteria doesn't exactly guarantee that you will die, does it? The demon could still be slayed, and you could remain alive. What then?

Shinobu: ...

Kanao: You know I'm right.

Shinobu: When...?

Kanao: Hmm?

Shinobu: When did you get all this mature?

Kanao: *chuckling* A few days, or actually just at the beginning of the chapter, since the author wanted you to face the reality.
