16. Todoroki Hospitality: Part Two

"What happened to him?" Fuyumi asked, wringing her hands nervously

"His body overheated," Shoto muttered. "It normally happens because he's stressed. Looks like it was particularly bad this time and he fainted."

He knelt down and adjusted your position on the bed mat, making sure your head was supported.

{Shoto knew something was wrong as soon as you left the room. He followed only to see you pass out in the middle of the hallway, your skin flushed red and hot to the touch. With Natsuo's help, he was able to move your feverish body to the elders former bedroom.}

"We probably stressed him out by talking of Toya...." She said, "We should have just kept our mouths shut! Oh this is all our fault......"

"Don't worry about it," Shoto said softly. "I know it's hard not to think of him when you're around someone so similar."

Natsuo pursed his lips at that. He hesitated, then let his Quirk cover his hand and placed it on your forehead. You relaxed under his touch, the ice soothing the burning pain under your skin. It was the same healing motion he did for his brother when he was a kid. The memory was bittersweet now.

"That seemed to help somewhat" Fuyumi said. "But does he need a hospital!?"

"I texted Midoriya," Shoto said, checking his phone. "He says that it should just take him a few moments to wake up. Apparently he's passed out before."

You groaned and rolled over, leaning into the cooling feeling of Natsuo's hand. You scrunched up your nose and muttered something as the elder boy tried remove the appendage.

"Strange, I think he is dreaming or something...." Natsuo muttered.

You opened your eyes to find yourself in a forest. A lake rippled gently nearby and you could hear birds flit about in the trees. Bright blue bushes of Rindou flowers littered the area serving as a perch for fluttering butterflies.

"Hey! You're here!" A boys voice said.

You turned to see a familiar white haired child sitting on a log. He smiled brightly at you, his eyes glittering. "I waited so long! But I knew you would find me eventually!"

"Toya?" You said. "Wh-what is this?"

He giggled, "You know, when you took Vestige it wasn't just Dabi, it was me too!" He hopped off the log. "I was locked up though, so I didn't get to say hi until now!"

"I don't understand...." You muttered "Vestige is so.....complicated."

"Don't worry, I'm here to help you!" Little Toya assured. "When you gained vestige from Dabi, he gave you the condition to make Endeavor suffer with it. Do you want to see why?"

"The reason why....." you hugged yourself. "Dabi's past......your past...."

"Toya was a man who died twice without ever reaching his full potential. But you can fix that. You can fulfill his dream." The boy reached out his hand. "Do you want to see what you are fighting for."

You hesitated. The answers were here, the origin of the villain who had given you a Quirk. You were afraid truthfully to see what he went through, to see what created one of society's most despised criminals. But you yearned your understand your predecessor, to see what his life was like and understand him better. Perhaps you were the only one who cared.

You reached out, taking the boy's hand. A flash of light consumes you.

You were four when your life truly began. You had been alive before that, born prematurely during a cold January day, but the time that your Quirk came was the true start of your story.
