20. Revelry In The Dark

{The next day of training camp started bright and early at 6:00AM. Despite the entire class being exhausted, your teachers all seemed determined to stick to schedule. Aizawa specifically seemed intent on getting you training as he was now dragging you to the mountain.}

You yawned and rubbed your eyes as you followed Aizawa down the forest trail. "Where are we going sensei?" You asked. "What about the rest of the class?"

"Everyone else will be training with the Pussycats this morning, I've decided to set aside the dawn for aiding you." He said, not looking behind.

"B-but I thought I was good enough to work with the class still!" You said, worried you were going to be alone again.

Aizawa frowned and turned to face you, "Don't stutter. It makes you sound too much like Midoriya." He gestured for you to give him your arms so he could unlock your cuffs.

You swallowed nervously and held out your arms.

He clicked them off and instead of pocketing them, he held them up to your face.

"Look closely," he pointed to the edges. You blinked in shock as you saw that the plastic and metal had melted and warped from flame emission.

You realized that was evidence to Aizawa that you could use your powers even with the suppressor cuffs on.

You expected Aizawa to yell or be disappointed, but he didn't seem upset. "Don't look scared, it's not your fault." He assured. "I knew your power would get stronger. Even though your Quirk is new, it appears to be progressing rapidly as if you've had it your whole life." He pocketed the cuffs and turned around, continuing up the mountain.

You hesitated, then slowly followed after him. "So....is that a good thing or a bad thing?" You asked, a little scared of the answer.

"Both." Aizawa said. "The more powerful you are, the more dangerous you get. As a hero, you must make sure that you are only a threat to the villains and not your companions or civilians. We managed to teach you that the first week you were in U.A's custody, but now we need to work on more advanced techniques."

You continued onwards through the rocky trails and brush. Eventually, you came upon a cave right near the base of the mountain trail, right before the road up to the main peak.

The cave was dark, a yawning void carved into the rocks face. You heard a scream from within, deep and tortured.

A chill went down your spine and you took and instinctive step back. "That voice.....is that...."

"Tokoyami," Aizawa confirmed. "Without the city lights around, his Quirk goes completely out of control. He has been isolated here since midnight."

You heard another roar echo throughout the area, vibrating through the ground and shaking your bones. "Sounds.....bad...." You said.

"You aren't the only one with a dangerous Quirk, so I figured this would be a good chance to give you both an experience in control," He looked down at you. "You go in and fight him. Defeat Dark Shadow and then take Tokoyami back to camp for healing."

"You want me to do what!?" You said in shock. "B-but what if something goes wrong!? We could end up seriously messing eachother up!"

"Ragdoll and Tiger just arrived this morning. Ragdoll can monitor your vitals and send Tiger out if you need any aid. But really, I think that you will be able to do this," he said, adjusting his scarf. "Eraser doesn't work since Dark Shadow covers his eyes and the other students won't be able to handle this."

"Handle this?" You laughed nervously. "I don't even know what THIS is! You want me to defeat Tokoyami and also save him?!"

"Yes." Aizawa said, looking unphased by how dangerous this could turn out. He pulled out a wired device from his other pocket which you recognized as a version of the cooling devices from your hero costume. "You no doubt can work these well. I figured you would need them for training and judging on how easily you overheated yesterday, I would say I was correct."
