Caitlyn sped her car through the backroads to get to Piltover. That was where her revenge would start. She'd go in order of the four people that killed her family. The three gunman and their ring leader; the big finale.
She stepped out of her car once she found her favorite restaurant between Piltover and Zaun. A small diner called Jericho's. It felt good to be back. Once she got her bagged food, she turned around and bumped into someone, knocking it all in the floor.
"Oh, shit! I'm so sorry!" The person said.
"Oh, no, that was my bad." Caitlyn pleaded. "I get clumsy at times. Doesn't everyone?"
When the two of them picked up the food on the floor and put it in the bag, they locked eyes. Caitlyn scanned the pink hair and the set of gray eyes in front of her.
"I'm Vi Lane." The girl spoke. "Violet, but no one calls me that."
"Im Caitlyn Du Couteau. Nice to meet you." Caitlyn said as they shook hands.
"Would you like me to buy what you dropped?"
"No, that is not necessary at all. I have plenty of money. It was my fault anyway, I wasn't paying attention."
"Guess I'm just getting an excuse to talk to you."
"Why me?"
"You seem intriguing."
Vi quickly tossed the money on the counter and Jericho went to get the food Caitlyn had. "Where are you from?"
"Piltover, but... my family moved to Noxus." Caitlyn lied.
"Why there?"
"Not sure. I was very young."
Suddenly, a new bag was placed on the counter and Vi picked it up and handed it to Caitlyn. "What about you?"
"Not a nice place like Piltover or Noxus... You can at least breathe fresh air in those places."
"I'm going to assume it's Zaun."
"Yeah, it's not a place people like you would wanna end up."
"All things happen for a reason, don't they?"
Vi looked around before facing Caitlyn's blue eyes again. "You wanna sit with me? I'm not in a hurry unless you are..." She explained.
"Um, sure, I'm not in a hurry to get back to the silent hill city of Noxus..." Caitlyn said sarcastically as the two girls sat down in a booth.
"I've met people from Noxus. You're different."
"I'm not sure why I seem that way."
"You seem so soft and sweet."
"If you think that, then definitely don't cross me. I won't be so soft and sweet anymore."
At this point, a lot of people from Piltover and Zaun had already seem Caitlyn, yet didn't recognize her. As long as she didn't use the last name "Kiramman" then she wouldn't be recognized. Caitlyn could be anyone.
"Are you here alone?" Vi asked.
"Yes, for right now. I'm just visiting an old dear place." Caitlyn explained.
"Nothing new. Just the same old diner."
"It's still good to visit a sweet memory."
"I come here nearly everyday after school."
"I'm homeschooled..." Caitlyn lied again. She had to teach herself, Marcus gave her no time for school.
"Must be nice..."
"Depends on who I'm being schooled by, I suppose. There's not much about me that is really interesting... I don't have much hobbies."
"Finding myself into the middle of fights that don't involve me is my hobby."
"Is that why you're so muscular?" Caitlyn asked watching the girl's cheeks in front of her slowly turn red.
"Uh, yeah... I also go to the gym sometimes..."
"Definitely not a hobby of mine." Caitlyn lied again.
"You have a good body, it seems like you do something." Now Caitlyn was the one blushing.
"Self defense training..." She said nervously.
"Must be some hard core shit then."
"It can be... depends on the day really."
Suddenly, Caitlyn noticed Vi looking at her new set of wheels. "That yours?" She asked. Caitlyn nodded, so she didn't seem as if she was bragging. Who could brag about a car like that though?
"It suits you." Vi said, taking a sip of her drink.
"Thank you. I was told that I earned it." Caitlyn said thinking that maybe she didn't. She got the sudden feeling that she didn't need that car. That it was just something in her memory that needed to be forgotten. No, it's a stupid car that she earned for doing well over the past five years.
"So, Caitlyn. Why did you suddenly come back to this place? It's still a piece of shit like before..." Vi explained.
"I'm not sure." Caitlyn lied once again. It would take a while before Piltover felt like a nice place to be instead of the last place she saw her family. "I suppose I just got a random urge."
"On a random Tuesday? Sounds nice." Vi said sarcastically as the cars giggled a little.
Suddenly, the vibration of Vi's phone vibrated the whole booth. She picked it up and just rolled her eyes and put it in her pocket. "My stupid brother... I should probably get going."
"My too, it's a long drive to Noxus." Caitlyn explained as they both got up from the booth.
"Would you wanna exchange numbers...?" Vi asked as her cheeks became red.
"Sure, but I don't respond quickly." Caitlyn explained as she gave Vi her phone. "So don't get worried."
"I have to respond quickly, my dad owns a bar... That's what I meant by my special hobby." Vi stated as she gave Caitlyn her phone back.
"Well, don't get yourself killed. Or block with your face, I learned that the hard way during training." Caitlyn stated.
"How did you know I do that?"
"You seem like the type."
"The type, huh?"
"Yes. Now, I should probably go. I'll try to remember to call you tonight. If I don't, I will eventually."
"Yeah, thanks..."
Caitlyn walked out of the diner, leaving Vi still confused. Not in a bad way, in a good way. This girl came out of nowhere, yet she knows the place like the back of her hand.
"Who are you, Caitlyn Du Couteau...?" She asked herself as she walked out to her truck.
