Caitlyn had decided to let Vander spend time with his new grandchildren while she and Vi went to visit Sheriff Grayson. As they stood in front of the door, Caitlyn rolled her eyes, "God, I hope Marcus isn't here," she said to herself.

"Marcus?" Vi asked.

"Not that Marcus, love. The deputy. Ironically, he has a daughter as well."

"Oh, great."

The two girls walked into the station, Caitlyn leading Vi to the sheriff's office. Sheriff Grayson had been eating her lunch and drinking a Starbucks coffee with it. She looked up, her face lighting up at the sight of Caitlyn no longer being pregnant, "Hello, it's good to see you!" She exclaimed.

"It's great to see you as well," Caitlyn said.

"I don't like to assume things, but I assume that this is your lover?"

"Yes! This is Vi."

"Hey," Vi said, awkwardly. It made Caitlyn remember her fiancé's thoughts on enforcers. Dammit. When do you ever think? "Nice to, um... meet you."

"You as well. Those cold cases you took home," The sheriff mentioned to Caitlyn. "You haven't finished them, have you?"

"That's why I'm here. You should really play closer attention to the little clues given. Those cases would be much easier to solve."

"Oh? Are you insulting my team and I?"

"Well, yes... but no. You just need to put in more effort. Like that young girl, Valerie who went missing and her remains were found a year later. The clues you've written from her mother and stepfather should've given you the answer."

"Who do you think it is?"

Caitlyn chuckled, "Sheriff, I know it's the stepfather. His story did not add up to the situation. He also left Piltover after the interrogation. It isn't just about the clues left at the scene, sheriff, it's the body language of the suspects."

"Ah, I will keep that in mind then. Thank you."

The sheriff cleared her throat, "I've received more information on your ancestors."

"My... ancestors?"

"The mafia side of things?"

Caitlyn glanced at Vi then back at Grayson, "Oh..."

"Mafia side of things?" Vi repeated.

"Vi, I... I-uh."

Vi just placed her hand on Cait's shoulder as the sheriff continued giving the studied information. "You're family's always had a good hold on the law," she explained. "Very respectful members. They did what was right, never too brutal. There's only one Kiramman that I can make out that was a cold-hearted criminal. None of the others."

"My family didn't exactly come off as criminals," Caitlyn said, her palms a bit sweaty from the exposure. "I suppose that family member was dead before I was even born."

"Yes. He was executed in 2001. From what I remember, you were born in 2003."

"Yes, I was."

"Other than that, the record isn't clean, but there's no pure evil. They never put anyone in danger."

"Were they even a mafia then?"

"Yes, just not as violent until they really had to be."

Caitlyn nodded, allowing the sheriff to continue. Not that Vi minded, but she really didn't want Grayson mentioning her family's past in front of Vi. That was a massive piece of Caitlyn's life that not even she herself knew about. Please let the puzzle stay put together, don't knock it off the table again.
