————————

She's been gone for too long.

That's all Vi kept saying to herself. Caitlyn had been gone for way too long in her book.

If she was okay, she wouldn't be gone for this long.

But she had to breathe and keep her anxiety down. If Vi let her anxiety go all over the place, she wouldn't find Caitlyn.

Caitlyn could be dead by now!

No. No, she wasn't dead. Caitlyn knew how to handle herself far better than Vi herself could. She was quicker on her feet, with weapons, and when it came to fighting, her agility was impressive.

The smoke within the area had calmed down. Vi tried to ignore the corpses, but how could she? How could she ignore the fact that people she saw nearly everyday were now lying down in front of her missing limbs, facial features, even heads. That was when things flooded over her. Things from a time far older than this one.

Mom? No.

Vi had to stop in her tracks and look up at the sky. It was blue again. If only the stones were grey and brown again instead of red.

Piltover.

She needed to get to Piltover. Vi ignored the ground and looked up ahead at the tall structures in her view. She continued to walk towards that target and continued to look at it instead of what was around her. If she looked at the ground and the area around it, she would lose it and possibly lose Caitlyn too.

Finally, Vi reached the entrance of Piltover from Zaun. It was a lot brighter than Zaun, as per usual. No one was outside which made things quiet... a little too quiet.

Too calm herself down, Vi focused on the lack of noise to see if there were any sudden sounds. So far, things were okay. She found herself about a mile into Piltover and there was still nothing. No sign of life or death. That was until the sound of something flying by her caused her to stop in her tracks. It sounded like a missile.

Something exploded not far away from her. Vi turned around to see a couple of stores on fire. Then another missile flew over her head into a few more stores.

~~~~~~~~
Vi, you fool.
Caitlyn had seen the same sights multiple times now. The bodies, the blood, the smoldering remains of debris. All of it. That was the least of her worries when she heard an explosion in the distance. She made sure her pistol, her sniper, and her rifle were all loaded, then she ran. She ran as fast as her lungs allowed her until she reached the entrance of Piltover.
There were multiple buildings on fire. Mostly stores. None of the larger structures were demolished yet. Then she tripped over something. She fell to her knees and got up dusting them off. She turned around to look at what had blocked her path.
What the hell?
It was one of the Demacian soldiers she had spoken too earlier. The fool's gun was about ten feet away from him and a massive piece of his head had been blown off.
What the hell has she gotten herself thrown into?
Caitlyn pulled her pistol out of her holster and kept the safety off, along with a silencer on the end of it. She held it at her side until she saw a couple of Demacian enforcers coming her way. Her first instinct was to freeze, hoping they couldn't see her through the smoke.
"Hey, hold it right there!" One of them shouted. Caitlyn pointed her gun, "Put down the weapon!"
"Put down yours." Caitlyn said coldly.
"We will shoot you!" Shouted the other, "In the name of the Demacian military and law, we are legalized to shoot anyone who chooses to bare arms without valid reasoning!"
Before they could say anything else, Caitlyn shot them both in the head. She had to keep moving. She could hear distinct yelling and shouting, but no sign of anyone coming her way. So far, so good.
~~~~~~~~~~

Yeah, this wasn't going good at all.

Vi had been trying to move her way through alleys just to get back to Zaun. She knew that she couldn't give up on Caitlyn, but at this point, there was no hope for her. Suddenly, there was another blast to a building right next to her.

Vi managed to escape being entirely crushed by the debris, but her left arm wasn't so lucky. She had tripped over a brick and about ten of them landed on her arm. She tried everything she could not to scream in pain, for it would draw a mass amount of unwanted attention to her. So she just bit her tongue until it bled.

There had been shouting and shooting heard from not too far away. Vi managed to peak around the wall she was leaned up against and saw about four or five Demacian soldiers shooting at something within the smoke.

She needed to focused on getting her arm free. Vi pulled and pulled and it wouldn't budge. She was surely too weak and in pain to move heavy bricks off her arm. Her options were slim: She would either have to fight through her exhaustion and push the bricks off her arm or sit there and wait until someone would be nice enough and brave enough to help her. First option sounded better.

Vi fought through her fatigue and pushed the heavy bricks off her arm almost vomiting. Not only was she severely bleeding out, but there were about five threads and a bit of bone still keeping her arm attached. She could've held it up and it would've dangled and swung like a tire swing.

"Violet!" A familiar voice shouted. Vi looked up to see the familiar dark blue haired woman she had been looking for all along.

"Aw, could to know you came for me, Cupcake," Vi said with a tired chuckle. Caitlyn had been going through her satchel, probably looking for gauze to temporarily wrap Vi's arm with.

"Of course I came for you," Caitlyn said cautiously looking around, "You knew I would."

"Yeah, can you believe this shit?" Vi asked holding her arm up and hitting it. Caitlyn gasped at the sight of seeing it dangle by a few threads.

"Vi, you're going to make it worse!" She shouted, "God, if your arm wasn't merely mutilated, I would beat the shit out of you right now."

"I'm crippled now..." Vi could feel herself get more and more lightheaded by the minute.

"I'm sorry for yelling," Caitlyn said in a worried tone grabbing the roll of gauze from her satchel, "Just try not to talk right now, okay? We still have to make it back to the others." She cupped Vi's face and kissed her forehead before tying the gauze around her arm. She helped her up and looked around before helping her out of the alley and back towards Zaun.
