You continued to stare at your finger and the blood that was on it with your mouth agape. “Lilly… Lilly please let me explain” Dante pleaded with concern written all over his face. You slowly shifted your gaze from your finger to him then closed your mouth and nodded “Okay” you replied with no emotion. Dante’s shoulders slumped and he let his head hung as you continued to look at him. He sighed and then brought his head back up staring straight into your eyes.

                

“First you have to promise me that you won’t tell anyone” he inquired with a serious expression. You stayed silent for a while then nodded “Okay, I promise” you said reassuringly. Dante took in a deep breath and kept staring into your eyes, it felt like he was piercing through your soul. “Yes, what you just drank from that glass is definitely blood. You’re not going insane nor are you ‘loosing it’. The reason I drink blood is pretty obvious and I’m pretty sure you know too, but I think you still want to hear me actually say it so, here it goes: Lilly… I’m a vampire” Dante explained still looking completely serious.

The last 3 words he said kept repeating in your mind over and over again. When the words finally registered your eyes bulged incredible “W-what?” you stuttered staring at him disbelievingly “You’re joking right? Trying to pull a fast one on me!”. Dante shook his head slowly with his eyes closed, he stopped and looked into your eyes again “No… Lilly, look closely at me” Dante commanded. You gulped and stared at him, your eyes kept scanning his face until they reached his eyes, then they abruptly stopped and peered at his eyes.

“Your eyes… they’re blood red” you uttered still staring into his eyes. Dante nodded a little “Exactly” he replied. *How on earth did I not notice this before…* you thought disbelievingly *I guess it’s because I never really stared into his eyes so intensely before, I barely looked at his eyes* you mentally added. Your eyes continued to gaze at his face but stopped at his mouth when something caught your attention “Fangs…” you whispered staring at his mouth. Dante blinked his eyes a few times then his expression showed realization “Yea…” he replied and opened his mouth a little wider forming and oval shape and his fangs were now more visible to you. You stared at him your mouth agape.

Unconsciously your body moved closer to him until there was like a foot’s space left between you two and without really realizing what you were doing your hand went up to his mouth and with your index finger you touched the front of his fang then moved your finger under it. Suddenly you came to your senses but was so startled at what you were doing you jerked your hand away from his mouth and in the process you cut your finger open on his fang. You winced a little and held your hand up to your face looking at the cut. It wasn’t too deep, but still deep enough that a lot of blood started to come out.

You were staring at your finger as the blood started to form a drop at the bottom of your finger when a hand took a hold of your wrist. Your eyes followed the hand on your wrist until it came to a stop in front of Dante’s mouth. He stared at your finger for a few seconds then slightly opened his mouth and put your bleeding finger into his mouth just in time to stop the drop from falling from your finger. You stared at him blankly as you felt him softly suck on your finger, usually from something like this you would have been blushing furiously by now, but this time there wasn’t even a hint of a blush only a blank expression.

After a while Dante stopped and then opened his mouth again slowly removing your finger from his mouth. He let go of your wrist and you slowly brought your hand closer to your face and stared at your finger again. Your finger had stopped bleeding. You looked at Dante as he gazed at you with a glum expression “So… you’re really a vampire then?” you inquired emotionlessly. Dante shifted his gaze away from you and nodded then let his head hang.
