Chapter Twenty

Win was getting ready to go to work.
Book opened the door of Win's penthouse and they were surprised to see Win mother
Win uttered, "Mom."
She asked him, "Do you have a minute?"
Win nodded, "I surely do."
"Book, you can just wait for me in the car." said by Win
"Yes, sir." Book said and bowed to them before leaving
Win stepped aside and his mother went inside of his penthouse
Win closed the door and followed her to his living room
His mom sit on the sofa and Win sit across from her
"How have you been doing?" Wina, his mother, asked with a small smile
That caught Win off guard
When was the last time he heard his mother asked him that?
Win slowly answered, "I'm doing just fine, mom."
She asked, "Is your dad giving you a hard time?"
Win slightly shook his head, "No."
His mom stood up and sit beside him
She looked down at the floor, "I don't know how will I start."
"I'll just start from saying what I owe you the most. I am sorry, son." then Win's mother started to cry
She added, "I am very, very sorry. You didn't deserve anything you've been through because of me. You deserve none
of it."
"Mom." Win's eyes became teary, he held his mother's hands
His mother held onto his hand and said in between sobs, "I'm sorry if I wasn't with you whenever you needed me the most. I'm sorry if you felt like you had no mother for the past years. I'm deeply sorry, son."
Win started to cry after that
His mom kept on speaking, "I know saying sorry will never be enough."
"I'll make it up to you for the rest of my life, son." Wina looked up at his son and cupped his face
She wiped his tears and hugged him
Win immediately hugged his mom back and sobbed harder
"I want you to know that I am proud of you. Though, I failed to show you that. I am always proud of you, Win." she said while caressing Win's back
His mom chuckled, "Hush now, son, you don't want to go to work with a swollen eyes, do you?" and then they pulled away
She helped Win wipe his tears, Win hugged her again
His mother laughed, hugging him back
Win said, "I've missed you, ma."
His mother said, "I've missed you more, son."

A few days has passed since Win's emotional talk with her mother and since then, everything has never felt this light for Win
It was Friday and Win just finished doing his work, he switched his laptop off and laid back on his chair
He heard his phone buzzed, he reached for it on his table

Mr. Mayor BVC 🙄

Hey, dinner tonight? Let's catch up.

Win couldn't help but to smile after reading Bright's message.

To who do I owe this pleasure? The city mayor wants to have a dinner with me.

Oh, please. 🙄

We just didn't get to properly catch up the last time.

Say yes, I already freed my time for you.

Alright, where and what time are we meeting up?

In my place at 8 pm, what do you think?

Sounds good.

See you tonight, Mr. Mayor.

Win replied.

8 PM.
Win was standing outside of Bright's house, he pressed the doorbell
Bright opened the gate and immediately smiled at him
Bright said, "You made it."
Win rolled his eyes, "Well, yeah, duh." and then he went inside
Win said, "I couldn't come empty handed." and handed Bright the bottle of champagne that he brought
Bright accepted it, "Thank you." then they got inside Bright's house
Win removed his coat while looking around
"Welcome to my house. Please, feel at home." Bright said while he was on the way to the kitchen
Win followed him and said, "You got such a nice place."
"Thanks." Bright uttered, putting the bottle of champagne on the table
Win looked at the foods prepared on the table
He asked Bright, "You cooked all of these?"
Bright answered, "Of course, what do you take me for? I didn't study in a culinary school for 2 years just for nothing."
Win laughed at him then Bright pulled a chair for him
"Thank you." Win muttered, sitting down
Bright sit across from him and said, "Dig in."
"How was your first two weeks as this city's mayor?" Win opened up a conversation and put some foods on his plate
Bright babbled, "Besides all the paper work, I've done so many other things. I'm telling you, I got to meet a lot of people. I've visited a hundred organizations, I even had to go up to a mountain for a tree planting activity."
Win chuckled and shook his head in amusement, "Sounds like you're busy everyday."
Bright let out a sigh, "Tell me about it."
He added, "But it's also a good thing so, my brothers won't think to bother me."
Win laughed at that then he said, "Speaking of which, I met Pond the last time I've been to my friend's café. He was there 'cause Phuwin was gonna introduce him to my friend and then I dropped by and that's when I met him."
Win added, "He was so nervous, Bright."
Bright laughed at that, "I'm sure he was."
"Please, go easy on my another brother Joong when you meet him. He might pee in his pants because of nervousness." said by Bright and Win laughed
Then Bright asked, "And hey, you started working at your father's company, right? How's everything?"
Win let out a sigh, "Too stressing."
He continued, "I'd rather work in my home office all week but dad won't allow me. He said that I must get used to working in a real office environment."
Bright joked, "I wonder how hard it is for Book to put up with you."
Win reacted, "Hey!" then he said, "But to be honest, I'm really thankful for Book. I can't do all of this without him."
Bright smiled at that
"You're one to talk. I'm sure Force is also having a hard time working as your secretary." Win said, rolling his eyes
Bright said, "Well, yeah, can't deny that. That's why I am also thankful that I have Force."
Win raised his glass of red wine, "Hope they will never get tired of us."
Bright chuckled and raised his glass of red wine as well, they did a toast
And they continued to eat

After eating, they decided to hang out and drink the champagne that Win brought in the living room
Bright spoke, "Hey, you mentioned to me that you already had your talk with your mother. I didn't get the chance to ask you how did it go. So, how was it?"
Win snickered, "Thankfully, it went really well. We both cried."
Then Win smiled, "She put everything out in the open."
He added, "I can't describe how happy I am because our situation is now straightened out."
Bright smiled, "I'm more than happy for the both of you."
Win smiled back, "Thank you, Bright."
