Bakugo had pulled the car over so harshly the tire nearly popped up onto the curb. "We're here," here was two blocks away from the burlesque.

"Thank you," you leaned over and kissed his cheek. His grip on the steering wheel lessened slightly, and you counted it as a win. "I'll be back," you popped open the door.

"I'll be here," he grunted. You shut the door behind you walking into the night. It was odd how this street had memories, Mina had been attacked here by Toga, Katsuki had asked you out on a date here, had offered to buy your freedom. "I'm water and your oil," you whispered under your breath remembering what you had told him. "We don't mix, and your too quick to ignite." You pinched your eyes shut trying to remember just exactly what it was he had said to you in reply. "Good thing it's your job to extinguish me," you dropped to his tone, snorting to yourself. "Real fucking smooth Katsuki," a breeze passes.

The weather's gotten cooler fall closing in on the city so that it can sweep away life with a chill and give way to winter. "You gonna sing another pretty song?" The guard asked as he opened the door for you.

"Nah, if everything goes well today should be my last day."

He eyed you, "got another job? Boss ain't gonna like that."

"He doesn't own me." Your footsteps were silent along the dark hall.

"You say that but he thinks other wise."

"Does he own you too?"

"He owns all of us."

You couldn't remember if Katsuki had a car phone, which was unfortunate since dread slowly dripped down your spine. "Just take me to him, Brutus."

"You should just sing your little song birdy."

"Please," you flash him a winning smile. He sighs and leads you to the office. So there you are again, going up those sticky wooden stairs. You know the ones, narrow and closing in from either side yet way too steep for any normal human. You climb up them, your hand against the wall to keep you stable.

Brutus knocked on the frosted glass, that same squeaky yet dry voice calling from inside. "Who is it," it croaked.

"Brutus with," he looks over you as if to make sure you're still there. When you show no sign of moving he announces your company.

"To what do I owe the pleasure," your boss- who wears a smug grin in an attempt to hide his scorn. The last time he tried to keep you in place you only drifted further out of line. His ashtray is filled to the brim a large mound spilling out onto his desk. The whole space is untidy, his face is thinned out and sunken in all the wrong places. "You're getting fat."

"You'd still fuck me."

"Foul language from a lovely lady." He squints at you, "you're the bitch sleeping with that cop." He snarls revealing rotting teeth, whatever was left was silver and even that was dinghy. "The hell are you doing here."

"Putting in my resignation, today will be my last day."

"You can't leave skank, need the cash from my fat cash cow."

"Ashido will also be leaving, I'm going to collect her things as well as mine."

"You're not fucking leaving," he slams his fist against his desk more ash falling onto the wood. You take a steadying breath turning to leave only for Brutus to step in your way.

"Move."

"I'm really sorry song bird," the man looks at you sympathetically.

"You can't hold me captive!" Your shout rattles the door and echoes down into the hall.

"Like hell I can't, I picked you off of the streets."

"That's exactly where I'm gonna be throwing you." You turn back to Brutus, "let me go or I'm burning this whole fucking place down."

He swallows.

"When the cops raid this bitch, I'll tell them where everything is."

This time Brutus pushes you, "I'm real sorry but you I can't let you do that. You ruin him, you ruin all of us."

"Including yourself," your boss sneers. You can hear Katsuki's words in your head about those gasoline eyes of yours. "How 'bout this beautiful, one more show, as a..." he dust the ashes off of his desk. "As a fee," a nasty grin.

"Of course sir," anything to make this interaction easier. Katsuki is still waiting for you after all. You turn to Brutus who steps aside and finally lets you leave. He guides you to the stage which is back down those wretched stairs and a sharp, tight turn to the left. You can see the three other steps leading down from the back stage, but turn right on the top step entering the world behind the curtain. "Introduce me," you push Brutus.

"I'm supposed to be at the door, I've already been gone from my post for far too long." He's nervous, stage fright maybe.

"Introduce me," you push him past the curtains and yank the announcer back beside you.

"What the hell are you doing!?" The announcer shouts at you.

"I don't want you introducing me anymore, I put someone more capable in charge of it."
