-DEMETRI'S POV
I GRIMACED AS MY GAZE NEVER WAVERED, the forest in front of me was protected by whatever shield the Romanian's had acquired. My gift no longer seemed to work, the tenors from Vladimir and Stefan were seemingly non-existent as they faded, I looked over to Felix who understood that this was the boundary to the shield.
'If we were to launch an attack we need to attempt to lure them into a clearing out of bounds to here until we take down their shield.' He said, his voice cool and calculating as he thought of ideas.
Yet I found a flaw, 'How will we know which is the shield? Also the boundary would just move.' I argued, if we don't take out any shields early on then it's practically game-over as they will have too much control over the extent we can do.
The man beside me hummed as he agreed, 'Indeed... We must find a way to identify the shield early on in the war between us.' He hung his head in thought, rubbing his chin with his hand as he attempted to think of a solution.
As he did so, I took the time to look around the boundary to attempt to find any leads that could direct us to their base of operation, yet I found nothing in the woods, not even the edge of a scent. Yet I still needed to find this base; I couldn't bare to return with nothing whatsoever. Our team had been sent to look for relations between any nomads and the Romanians to collect the right information over two months ago, we still had not heard back from them and it left an uneasy pit in my stomach.
Indeed, it was us who had defeated the Romanian Coven and their rule, we had tripled, if not more in power, yet they have the element of surprise upon their hands, they've had centuries to plant moles into our ranks, I myself, know that the Kings worry about the safety of the Queen because of this, they only trust the elites to guard her, if not then the guards that were here at the moment they defeated the Romanians, such as Heidi, Chelsea, Emilia or Corin. They were guards that weren't at the ranking of Elite yet many mistook them for such, their gifts weren't too useful in terms of battle, besides Chelsea if she wanted to alter ties between a coven to turn their backs on each other before such thing, they preferred their rank as it was even when they were each offered the Elite status countless moons ago.
Heidi enjoyed her role in the castle, the humans sometimes intrigued her as she heard their mindless chatter or their fascination at the ancient walls of the castle, she was unsurprisingly the most caught up vampire on the modern things in society that wasn't born during the age.
Corin created bundles of smiles everywhere she went, helping people calm down with her gift to have contentness and warmth spread comfortingly throughout the person really allowed her to become a popular friend in a time of need.
