'WE'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SHARE WITH YOU BARNES.' A voice sneered as a Goblin came up to the bars, it wasn't really a goblin, it was just a nickname given to them by the man who refused to look up into their eyes.
Liam Barnes had sat alone for 17 years, even when he was punished and brutally beaten, he sat, his body seemed to have shut down, hidden in the shadows of the room as if they were his last hope in the world that failed him inevitably. Nobody could get him to speak at he sat there, a few years after he was captured he seemed to just exist, he used to fight back, he used to be fierce, yet his sharp exterior had become blunt.
'Leave him be, Cassius.' A feminine voice crept into the room 'I'll deal with the creature.' Liam glanced up without moving his head - he saw a navy coloured gown and papery skin contrasting it; she walked towards the man, using her finger to tilt his chin up to look into her crimson eyes with his jet black ones, his once ruby eyes were tainted by his hunger - he had not fed in several months, it felt as if his throat was on fire.
'You know, Barnes, you're never getting out...' Her tone became more seductive as she took a seat next to the rotting cell bars 'Unless you tell us what we need to know.' She smiled devilishly as the air became colder, if even possible 'We know you are not a shield. Yet what are you? Your gift must truly be exceptional, if only you'd join us and let us help you.'
'You know I'll never join you, not while you keep me away from her.' Liam's voice was gruff, as if his voice box was not able to remember how to work itself after years of no use.
'Ah, but my dearest Liam, we have found her you see.' Her voice penetrated his brain as if she were trying to control it 'Your gift is exceptional, it blocks me out.' She hissed under her breath 'Yet it is not a shield, Aro would not have offered to take you into the guard if you were a mere shield.' She muttered under her breath, her annoyance was so beautifully masked before, yet now it was as clear as daylight, it was ironic as the man had not seen such a thing in over a decade.
She rose up and moved closer towards him 'What the hell are you.' Her words were no question, merely a sentence spoken out of her own confusion, she turned on her heel and left, the point of her visit was wasted and short as she grew impatient too easily.
He let out a shaky breath as he buried his head between his legs as the water he had held back behind a dam came rushing down as it crumbled away, the memories plagued his mind, the love of his life screaming into his face as he accused her of cheating on him, seeing a pair of boxers that were not his own strewn on the ground of their bedside, his heart breaking after he found out she was with child after she had kicked him out, he felt his heart shatter that day - knowing he would never be able to be a part of that child's life, even if it was not his. She would disgrace his name, place erroneous versions of their relationship into their mind, setting the child up to despise him if they ever should meet. Never seeing the woman's face again until he had snuck into the hospital after he had attempted to visit her one day at their old apartment to see the child, perhaps take a paternity test just in case. He glanced into the room as she was attempting to rest, seeing her distraught face contorted in pain as the nurses were stitching her up, pretending to be her husband in order to see the beautiful baby that may be his, delicately tracing her face as he met her, leaving her with a gift just before he was found out by the hospital staff.
