❝The move you are afraid to make could be the one that changes everything.❞

Ved was in his usual self when he opened the door for us. He wore black jeans and a white T along with a checked shirt over it. He looked confused as his eyes moved between Bhai, bags, and me. I pressed a wide smile at him before pushing him out of the way and entering his apartment.

I didn't explain it much before, but it is a small 1 BHK flat with a balcony. The kitchen and living room are divided by a small dining area which has a 4 chair dining table. There is no interior. It is left as it was given to him. A couch set and TV in the living room. One plant given to him by his grandmother stays in the balcony which he loves dearly. His wet clothes rested on a stand for drying that was kept near balcony. The fan was moving in full speed which made my hair move. I didn't like it. So the first thing I did was to decrease the speed before moving to the couch.

One thing I adore is how clean it always is when he is the only person living there. I haven't seen any maids, so yeah, he does it himself.

"I would be staying here for a while," I declared. He frowned. "Sorry?" He asked, still being confused.

Bhai followed us with my giant bags. There were just 4 or 5 of them. I just packed the necessities. I hope I didn't leave anything behind.

"Did your parents finally kick you out?" Ved asked again. I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth to defend myself, but Bhai cut me.

"I am sorry for the trouble, buddy, but I need some time to look around for apartments. I did see a few, but it would take time for them to clear everything. I hope you get what I am trying to say," Bhai said. Ved sighed.

"Would she be able to stay here? This apartment is smaller than her room," He said. Point! I would agree with that. But right now I don't have any option. I have to manage.

"She will manage. She wants to be on her own, so she needs to learn a few things," He said and pressed a smile. Ved gave him a pained look.

"Do you want me to leave, Ved?" I asked with raised eyebrows. He let out a deep breath before watching me. "Will you leave then?" He asked.

I shrugged. "We have no choice. I wouldn't have stayed here either. I mean, the elevator sucks big time, and the building doesn't have a CCTV anywhere. I have not seen the watchman ever, and the people around are way too loud. The traffic sucks from the balcony, and it's too hot in here but I can manage," I said.

"Ayra," Bhai said sternly. I shrugged. "He doesn't mind. I always have complained about this," I said.

Ved scratched his temples and watched Bhai. "Don't worry. She can stay here as long as she wants. It is fine with me," He said plainly. Bhai gave a nod as I smiled happily.
