13. New Friend

"Kids! You have to get ready! you can't be late!"

"Ugh...coming...." Dusty groans. She sleepily crawls out of bed, cleans her teeth, and heads into the kitchen. "Dusty! Go wake up, your brother!" Her mum yells. "Which one" She says cluelessly. "The one that's still asleep!" Her mum shouts. Dusty quickly runs into Rusty's room.

"Rusty! We're gonna be late!" She yells, trying to wake him up. Rusty doesn't wake up. She walks closer to the sleeping kelpie. "RUSTY GET THE HELL UP WE HAVE SCHOOL!" She screams at the top of her lungs. "AH!" Rusty screams. "Finnally, you're up!" Dusty yells as she leaves the room.

Rusty imeaditly gets up and rushes into the kitchen. He grabs a few snacks from the cabinet since he had no time to eat breakfast. They grab their backpacks by the door and leave the house. "Bye Rusty!" Dusty waves as he steps onto his bus. "Bye Dusty!" He waves back. She steps onto the yellow bus full of strangers, Lulu doesn't go to the same school as her. She has no friends. She sits in the back, alone, and stares out the window until she gets to school.

The bus drops the students off. Dusty looks up at her school and takes a deep breath. "Second week of hell..." She mutters. She walks into the school and heads to class.

"Good morning, everyone! Welcome back!" Her math teacher, Ms. Corgi anounces to the class. Dusty looks around. Everyone is talking to their friends, except for her. She let's out a sad sigh. Dusty goes to every class surrounded by people she would never talk to, never laugh with, and never love.

The bell rings, and all the students get up and head to recess. Dusty sits on the swings, watching the other kids play. She begins to cry, the tears start to roll down her face. She sits there with her face in

"You'll never catch me!" Lila shouts to her friend Bingo. "Oh yes, I will" Bingo stops chasing her. "Look over there..." Bingo points to Dusty. Lila turns to what she's pointing at. "Awh...she looks sad..." Lila says sorrowfully. "Should we see if she's okay?" Bingo asks her. Lila nods.

They advance over to Dusty. "Uh...Hello....are you ok...?" Bingo asks nicely. Dusty looks up. "Oh....I'm not ok! Nobody likes me!" She puts her face back in her hands. "Oh....we can be your friend if you want..." Lila says. Dusty looks up in disbelief. "W-What..?" She sniffles. "Really? You want to be my friends.....?" Dusty asks the pair. "Of course!" Bingo says with a smile. Dusty gets up and gives a huge hug to Lila and Bingo, and they hug back.

"Would you like to play tag with us?" Bingo asks. "Y-yeah...that sounds nice..." Dusty says as she wipes her nose. The three walk to the field to play their game, Together, Forever.
