Rusty's Secret

16. Visit

It's a sunny Saturday morning, and Rusty is planning to visit Jack at the hospital. Rusty couldn't stop worrying about Jack. He couldn't sleep at all last night because of it. Rusty stares out of the car window, counting the minutes until he reaches the hospital.

They finally make it to their destination. Rusty flings open his door and runs up to the hospital's automatic doors. "Come on, come on!" Rusty rushes. "Hold your horses!" His mum laughs.

Rusty had memorized Jack's room number. He notices a nurse standing outside of it. "Hi, you must be Mrs. Kelpie?" The nurse asks with a welcoming smile. "Yes, I am" She answers. "Okay, he's just in there. Just make sure he doesn't make any big movements, and he'll be fine" She  nurse explains to them.

Rusty knocks on the door,  he listens for Jack's confirmation to enter the room. He hears Jack tell him to come in, Rusty twists the metal door handle and walk into the room. "Hey Jack!" Rusty shouts happily as he walks in. "Hi Rusty!" Jack replies."Hello Jack, how are you feeling?" Rusty's Mum asks in a concerned tone. "I'm feeling a little better..." Jack responded. Rusty sits on  the same chair he sat in last night next to Jack's bed. Jack tires to sit up again. "Ouch..." He scratches at bandage on his wound. "A-Are you ok?" Rusty asks anxiously. "Yeah, I'm fine.." He responds.

After minutes of converting, Dusty asks something. "Mum, can you help me find the bathroom?" The small kelpie asked. "Yep, let's ask a nurse in the hall" She gets up out of her chair. The two walk out of the room. Jack let's out a loud sigh. "Uh...T-Thanks for looking out for me..." Jack says, breaking the silence. "No problem," Rusty responds. Rusty blushes a little. Rusty looks through his mum's purse, he pulls out two sticks of peppermint gum. He pops one into his mouth. Jack was staring at the colorfull flowers by his bed. "Want one?" Rusty asks, holding his hand out. Jack turns to him. "Uh, sure. Thanks" Jack said nicley, taking the gum out of Rusty's hand. Jack blushed a little bit as he unraveled the silver gum wrapper.

Rusty hears someone knock at the door. "Oh, that must be my Mum" Rusty walks to the door and opens it up. "SURPRISE!" He jumps a little. Bluey, Judo, Mackenzie, Pretzel, and Indy were standing outside of the room. "W-What are you guys doing here!?" Rutsy shouts. "We can't just not visit our friend in the hospital" Bluey replies sarcastically. "Well, come in" Rusty says with a smile.

"Hey Jack! How are ya?" Mackenzie asks as he enters the room. "I'm doing better" Jack responds. Indy sets some flowers she got for Jack on the table. "Does your cut still hurt?" Judo asks. "Yeah a little. it's fine" Jack answered.

The day passed by quickly, the sky started to darken as the sun set. After hours of discussion, it was eventually time to go home. "Goodbye Jack! I'll cya tomorrow!" Rusty says as he closes the door behind him. "Bye Rusty!" Jack waves as he lays down and falls to sleep.
