Vic's POV

At the sound of the alarm, the first thing I did was run up the stairs. Jaime's good at cooking and he's never burnt anything before. He's making his seven-layer dip; there's nothing to burn! I walked into the kitchen to see Jaime calmly standing there still in my mom's apron. When we were waiting for Lily, Sky, and Daniel to show up and made him a bet he wouldn't wear it. He's ten dollars richer now.

"Jaime how the fuck do you burn dip?" I said over the alarm as I walked into the kitchen. I looked around and saw the dip sitting perfectly fine and finished on the counter along with a bunch of other snacks we got. Nothing is burnt.

"I didn't. I just wanted to get you up here without suspicion since I knew you'd be the only one to come up." He said over the beeping, which stopped as soon as he stopped. Without suspicion? What is he even playing at? And how did he get the alarm to go off?!

"Jaime, what are you talking about?" I asked with confusion. He sat down at the table and the look on his face said he wanted me to sit too. So I sighed and sat next to him. This is really odd, and with that apron, I definitely can't take him seriously.

"I just wanted to tell you that when Daniel and Lily were walking in they were. Well, they were holding hands so I don't know if that confirms what we were thinking on Friday before the music store or..." He said. With the words, my heart dropped. This kind of sealed it. They are dating... and my window has closed. I can't believe this. I told myself time and time again! Just lean in right now, kiss her, tell her, do something Vic! I would tell myself that every time I see her and now I can't even think of doing that. Now she's taken. But wait... how did Jaime know I have a thing for her?!

"Jaime why are you telling me? Good for her, I hope she's happy." I said, even though I could feel my stomach drop to my feet, my heart shatter and disappear, and my lungs dry up and turn to dust. Only one thought kept racing through my mind. I'm too late. And who knows how long I'll have to wait now. They could date for months, maybe years. I have no chance left.

"Vic, anyone with eyes can see that you have feelings for her. You just act so... different around her. Plus Mike was talking about how you refused to ask her out." He said, and it made me angry. Mike, the little bastard.

"I did not refuse, I just didn't know the right time." I said and looked at Jaime. I could see in his expression he was upset for me.

"I'm sorry I had to tell you buddy, but I thought you should know." He said. I suppressed my emotions for his sake. Jaime is my best friend, I could never be mad at him.

"It's fine man, I'll just get over it." I said and stood up. Out of the corner of my eye I could see his facial expression; Disbelief.

"Help me bring the food downstairs." he said and started organizing food on a big plastic plate that served as a platter. So with all these emotions running through me, I grabbed some of the food and brought it downstairs, trailing behind Jaime. Someone was talking and the voice didn't sound too familiar. Defiantly Daniel. I guess what he said was funny because everyone laughed. When they came into view I could see Daniel with red cheeks looking at Lily who was smiling widely back at him. Well, my fate is sealed. I'll get over this at some point, Right? For now I need to completely act, pretend I'm all happy for the sake of everyone around me.
