Lily's POV
The day was over and I had managed to get by with only dirty looks from Savannah and creepy stares from Jake. Something has to be going on. Lately she hasn't even talked to me. Of course its good, but its suspicious. I'm brushing it off for now. All I want to do is have a good time with my friends. Possibly get through the entire holiday season. That's a stretch, but hold fast to dreams and all that.
Shoving the little amount of books into my bag, I jumped a little as someone leaned against my locker. When I looked up I saw Vic smiling at me. Mike was there too, but he went to talk to Skylar.
"Ready for this?" He said excitedly. I straightened up and zipped my near empty bag.
"You seem more excited than me." I said and locked my locker. He smiled even wider and pushed the hair out of his eyes.
"Well, I jus-" He said and trailed off, his eyes training behind me. His gaze quickly went back to me.
"Vic what's wrong?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing." He said and peeked over my shoulder again.
"Hey Lil!" Someone said behind me. I turned around to see Daniel walking towards me. I smiled, I haven't seen him in like two days. He stopped in front of me and I could feel Vic step next to me.
"Hey Daniel, what's up?" I asked. I feel like he disappeared, I haven't even seen him in the halls. He shoved his phone in his pocket and smiled.
"Nothing, I was thinking we could go out and hang. Since we haven't talk in a couple days." He said enthusiastically. My smile died down as he said this.
"I-I wish I could, but I have plans today. I'm sorry, tomorrow?" I said. His smile died down too. But it was back as soon as it left. There wasn't much regret going through me, but I still felt bad I couldn't catch up with him. Then again, do I even want to tell him about my family problems?
"Don't worry about it, I'll call you later." He said and, with a wink, he was gone. I turned back to Vic, who had an unpleasant look on his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked, curiously. He looked at me in a way, in which, I felt... oddly safe? Weird.
"I don't get good vibes from that guy." He said. I opened my mouth to protest but Skylar and Mike came over.
"You guys ready to go?" Mike said. I looked to Vic and smiled, quickly looking away.
"Let's go." I said and started to walk. Skylar came up to me and we both left the guys behind.
"Something happen?" She asked, and for some reason I laughed. Maybe I just find it amusing that Vic doesn't like Daniel.
"Vic was just telling me how 'he doesn't get good vibes from Daniel." I said. She gave me an odd look.
"Why would he?" She said and truly, I don't know. But Daniel is my friend, and there's nothing Vic can do to prove him not. We were out of the school building and I lost track of where the guys went. Oh well, we'll find them later.
"I don't know, but it doesn't phase me." I said. It really doesn't for an odd reason. Skylar went on to tell me about how she started talking to this new girl who just moved here. I did pay attention to what she said, but I was also drifting in my own thoughts.
"So are you up for it?" She said. Though regretfully, the past were sentences were ones that I didn't hear. Why, oh why do I like to pay so much attention to the world around me?
"Um, sure. What day?" I said. There was a second of doubt in her eyes where I feel she might've caught on to me. She knew I wasn't listening.
"Saturday, at my house." She said amused. I didn't want to ask about, because then she'd just know that I wasn't listening. And trust me. I would never hear the end of it. There was a pair of feet walking speedily behind us.
