Jaime had underestimated his wife, he had not seen how dangerous she really was. He had never imagined that she had seen him and Cersei or that she had worked out that he was the father of Cersei's children. All these years Jaime had believed she was in the dark, just like everyone else. Now he understood that comment she made years ago and why her attitude towards him had changed. He felt bad because Lyanna had been just a child and she did not deserve to be hurt like that. But he could not allow her to tell anyone what she knew, what if she decided to tell her father? If Robert found out they would be killed and while Jaime did not care about himself he cared about his sister and their children.
Jaime opened the door that connected his wife's chambers to his, making sure not to make too much noise. The only light in the chambers came from the fireplace, all the other candles had been extinguished. He could see Lyanna's form clearly, she was lying on her back, and the sheets had been kicked off. He had no intention of hurting her, but he would make sure she would never say what she knew. Scaring her would be enough for now, he would also let her know Cersei could never find out that she knew about them. He did not want to think what Cersei would do if she discovered Lyanna was aware of their relationship.
Jaime was almost at the bed when a growl stopped him in his tracks. It took him a moment to realize he and Laynna were not alone in her chambers. The first thing he saw was yellow eyes flashing in the dark. Jaime's breath was trapped in his throat as he saw a large shadow move towards him. The beast growled and Jaime saw the large sharp canines, which would tear out his throat and other body parts in only a few seconds.
"Shadow?" Jaime looked at Lyanna who was sitting on the bed, looking between him and the large direwolf. "Jaime? What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk and I almost got mauled by your beast." Jaime gulped when the wolf growled once more, taking a step towards him. "Could you please call him back?"
"Shadow, stop." The wolf stopped growling and sat down, but did not take his eyes away from him. He saw Lyanna move from the bed and step beside her wolf, running a hand over his head. "You wanted to talk?"
"Yes."
"Really?" She looked at him like he was an idiot. "Is that why you are sneaking into my chambers in the middle of the night?"
"I was not sneaking." She just stared at him, not saying anything, but her bright blue gaze made him uncomfortable. "I just did not want anyone to overhear us."
"No, you were going to attempt and frighten me so I would not say anything about what I know." He hated how sharp-minded she was. "Just because I told you about it does not mean I am going to tell anyone else. I was not threatening you when I made you aware of what I knew."
"Then what were you doing?" Jaime crossed his arms over his chest. "Because it did not sound like a friendly chat."
"I was just making you aware that I am not the stupid child you believe me to be." He did not like how amused she looked. She stared at him for a few minutes, her hand still caressing the large wolf's head before she finally let out a sigh. "I will not say anything about you, Cersei, or your children."
"Why not?" He did not trust her.
"I am not doing it for you or Cersei, not even Joffrey. To be honest, I could not care less about the three of you. But Myrcella and Tommen do not deserve to pay for your mistakes, they are sweet children." He could tell she was being honest, which was a bit confusing to him. Most people with the information she had would try to take advantage. Lyanna shook her head. "There is also your father, he is a good man, he might be a bit harsh, but he loves you more than anything. I will not be the one to break his heart."
"My father gave up on me a long time ago."
"That is not true." Her look was knowing. "If that were true he would have never wedded you to me, or asked you to return so many times."
"I know I do not deserve it and that you are not doing it for me, but thank you." Lyanna nodded but did not say anything. "I am sorry for entering your chambers in this manner, I will never do it again."
Jaime left without looking back, all he had managed was to make himself look like an ass.
