Jaime was furious as he stalked down the hall towards the nursery. He had just spoken to his father, who had told him about the way the septa had been treating his daughter. Jaime could not believe all of this had been happening right under his nose and he had not noticed anything. That blasted woman was the reason his daughter had been acting like a stranger, the reason she had not been her usual happy sweet self. He hated that he had not noticed a woman he trusted to care for his children had been abusing one of them. He had no idea Joanna had the same issues with reading and writing as he did. His father had told him how Joanna believed she was stupid because the septa had said that to her several times. How the old woman had the gal to tell Tywin to find a minor lord because his daughter was deficient.
Jaime stopped in front of the nursery doors, taking a deep breath and attempting to calm himself down. He did not want to talk to his children as angry as he was, he did not want to scare them. He did not want Joanna to think he was angry with her, or that any of this was her fault. Once he was calm he opened the doors and entered the nursery, smiling when he saw Joanna sitting on the floor, Rewan and Kivan crawling around her. Both children kept attempting to get the wooden toy Joanna had in her hands, which she kept moving as all three of them laughed.
"I can see you are all having a grand time." Joanna turned to look at him, while Rewan and Kivan crawled to him as fast as they could. Both boys laughed when Jaime picked them up, kissing their cheeks. After a few minutes with both boys, he called for two maids who were in charge of taking care of the smaller children and had them take them to their chambers. Once both women had taken his sons away he sat on the floor, in front of Joanna, kissing her forehead. "I wish for us to talk."
