The whistle sounds again, causing the zombie's heads to snap in its general direction. Ayden fights against the swarm and latches onto Y/N once she's close enough. Their eyes search countlessly but see nothing or anyone who would give off the sound. Zombies click their decayed teeth together as they pass the females, their pace picking up to a run after the whistling rings out again. "I think I'm going to need that change of clothes you talked about earlier.." Ayden whispers, her tone is laced with embarrassment as it comes out. Y/N just nods as a breath stutters past her lips, anxiety making her on edge. "Let's get out of here." "Don't gotta tell me twice." Two pairs of feet make it into a relatively small building and stop to catch their breath. "That was terrifying." "It's normally not that bad. The terrifying factor was-" "My whistle?" a man counters as he steps out of the shadow like an evil villain. Y/N pushes Ayden behind her protectively, drawing her knife at a moments notice.
"And this is the part where you say 'thank you' and I reply with 'you're welcome'. So, let's try." he gestures his hand towards the girls, who stay quiet but remain on guard in return. The man clicks his tongue against his teeth and places a hand on his hip. "Wow, you guys are so welcome." he sarcastically responds. "Welcome?" Ayden questions as she peeks her head out from behind Y/N, "You could've gotten us killed!" He smiles like a kid on Christmas day, "But you're still standing!" Y/N narrows her eyes at his enthusiasm. "Standing or not, you still could've gotten us killed. We were fine without your assistance." The male cocks his head to the side with a raised brow. "Really? Because that's not what it looked like to me. It looked like you wouldn't have known that miss-thing behind you was on the ground otherwise." Y/N opens her mouth but instantly shuts it, because as much as it pained her to admit it, he was right.
But she wouldn't tell him that. "Who even are you?" the brave female questions as the man in front of them grins yet again. "My name is Anjelo." he sings in a sing-song tune. Y/N and Ayden look at him in annoyance before asking another question, "Why'd you help us?" Anjelo shrugs his shoulders at the question. "Because I can. You looked like you needed it." Ayden moves out from behind Y/N, her frame isn't as shakey as it was after they first met the man. "You have clothes? I wanna get out of this. It reeks!" Anjelo turns his head and looks around at the vast majority of clothes that hung on racks. "They aren't mine, I just shelter here." he says as he motions to the outfits, "Be my guest." Ayden takes off as soon as she gets the okay to do so. "I don't trust you." Y/N mutters under her breath. Anjelo looks over at the dual-haired woman and scoffs. "I didn't expect you to trust me, just be grateful and move on." he finishes with an eyeroll.
Y/N laughs sarcastically and wonders over to where Ayden is looking at a few shirts. "Find one yet?" The blonde almost jumps out of her skin, then places a hand over her heart in an attempt to calm herself down. "God! I need to put a fucking cat bell on you or something! You're too quiet!" The other woman laughs as she holds her hands up as an act of surrender. "If you must know, I think I'm going with this top. I just need a pair of pants to go with it. Hey, Anjelo!" A pair of hazel eyes flint over to the woman, waiting for her response as he jerks his head in a quick nod. "Yes, madame?" "Pants? Any idea where some are?" Anjelo nods again and makes his way over to some broken down escalators, motioning the females forward with his hands. "Up on the second floor. Feel free to take as many as you want." He starts to walk away, just to be grabbed by the collar of his shirt by Y/N in return. She clicks her tongue at him.
"Yeah, no. You're coming with us. While we're here, I'm not going to let you out of my sight. The only time you can dissappear from my view is when you gotta piss or shit. Other than that, my line of sight. Period." Hazel eyes narrow at brown eyes while a hand comes up to harshly remove the other. "Fine. But don't put your hands on me unless I give you a reason to. Got it?" Anjelo states with a deadly tone as he ascends up the stairs. Ayden turns to look at Y/N with furrowed brows then follows behind Anjelo quietly. The dual-haired woman covers the rear, keeping her eye out for anything that might seem out of place. As the trio get to the second floor, a faint shadow lurchs in the background. It's eyes are extremely faint as it moves along the wall, unknown to the three people who just arrived. "I won't lie." Anjelo states as he moves to stand beside Ayden, "I've never been up here before, so I have no idea if anything is or has been here. Stay on your toes."
Ayden limps forward and begins searching through the different racks and rows, staying fairly close to the two able-bodied people who stand in front of the steps. No one says anything to anyone. It's silent with the occasional humming coming from the generator that makes the dirty lights flicker. The mass moves again, ever so slightly coming closer to them. Just as Anjelo opens his mouth to say something, he stops and is pulling Ayden to stand behind them. "Hey! What-" He covers her mouth and points forward with his index finger, a zombie with a stained professional outfit lingers in front of them.
