The ground is white, which makes footsteps a little more difficult to follow. This is a good thing, but also a bad thing. It's bad because they never knew if someone was lurking nearby. "Well. At least the car was able to get us this far?" Anjelo hums in agreement, "It would be easier if it wasn't white everywhere we looked." A faint cheer comes from the girls in acknowledgement. The trio continue on their way in silence until the male speaks up. "This area makes me nervous. I'm not liking the vibe here." Anjelo mutters as he wraps his arms around his body, trying to gain a little bit of extra warmth, "It's creepy and unsettling." "What's eating at that lovely little head of yours, Lo?" a small blonde wonders. Anjelo shakes his head as his eyebrows draw together in thought. "It's quiet." The woman that asked the question snorts. "Yeah? And it's the best thing I've heard all day." Anjelo's head shakes again, this time more forcefully.
"It's quiet." he says again with more emphasis, "We are in the apocalypse. No apocalypse is going to be this quiet unless something major was fixing to happen." Ayden says nothing more as she chews on her lip in concentration. Their footsteps make the snow crunch softly and unveil small patches of grass afterwards. Overhead, a crow caws as it tilts its head frantically at the scene below it. "I might've liked birds but I sure as hell don't like them a lot right now." Y/N says as she eyes the bird. It crows once more before flying off and landing somewhere in the distance. She moves closer to Anjelo, who glances at her, then looks ahead again. "Holy shit.." Ayden comments, causing her warm breath to create a small cloud of condensation as she speaks. "I think we found the reason why it's been quiet.." Before them lies a heap of mangled bodies, both human and zombies, on top of a small river of red. It's gruesome but surprisingly doesn't smell.
"The bodies are fresh." Anjelo whispers as they approach the human-made mountain, "They're still too pink." The zombies that linger amongst the pile have their insides missing. "Are they- Who even does something like this?!" Y/N questions angerly. "This is absured! And disgusting! And-" Anjelo holds his hand in front of Y/N's face, a silent plea for her to stop. "Couldn't they at least close their eyes? I mean, what did they even do for them to be treated like this? What kind of animal even does something like this?!" Ayden says as she balls her hands at her sides. "People that aren't human, that's for sure." Anjelo responds quietly. They slowly walk around the massive pile of slow decaying bodies. The atmoshpere is quiet and tense, the only sound that accompanies them is made by crunching red snow that they carefully avoid. The image stays with them throughout the rest of their journey.
"Look!" Y/N says as she points to a lone boot marking that's been left behind in the snow. They glance at it as they pass by. "We'll just stay on our toes like we have been but be prepared to run at a moments notice." "This has got to be one messed up episode of Scooby Doo." "Ayden, shut up." By now, they are in the middle of nowhere. Nothing as far as the eye can see, just white. More faint boot markings can be seen the further out they get, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. Until Anjelo speaks. "I don't think we're alone." Ayden and Y/N snap their heads in the man's direction, eyes widening. "It's white out here. No other colors, not even a hint of green, but you don't think that we're alone?!" "I wouldn't say it if that's not what my feelings were. Gut instincts are hardly wrong when it comes to these kinds of situations." Anjelo remarks, a small bite to his tone as his head pivots around. "Keep walking, but speed up." The distance is smaller now and there is a black mass further up.
It moves. Night soon creeps in like a pack of snakes and the temperature drops. "Can we stop? I'm tired." "We stop in the cold and we'll freeze to death." Y/N mutters to Ayden. She tightens her grip on the flashlight in her hands while huddling close to the others for warmth. Now it smells. The group crinkles their nose at the stench before pausing in the snow. "Still have that gut feeling, Lo?" Anjelo nods at Y/N. "And he was absolutely right to have it." a foreign voice rings out. As a defense tactic, Ayden clutches the spear to her chest while Anjelo aims the gun at the new foe as the flashlight that's being held by Y/N shines in their direction. Before them stands one of the undead, its face deformed by scars and a chunk missing from their cheek. The face is sunken in while the eyes appear to bulge outward from their sockets. Its head tilts slowly and twitches with every new noise it hears. Anjelo slowly cocks the gun back with his thumb while the girls stand tense next to him.
"Anjelo, come to me baby." the corpse speaks. The undead clicks its teeth once. Ayden responds by kicking it with her foot before stabbing it with the spear to keep it at a distance. Its hands swing rapidly at Ayden and almost scratches her a few times. One of the others finally snaps out of their daze and kills it. "Thanks." Ayden states plainly, "My arms definitely weren't getting tired or anything." "Sorry.." the brunette man says absent-mindedly. "Anjelo? You alright? You look green." "I-" Before Anjelo can finish his sentence, he's leaning over so he can empty his insides. Y/N rubs his back lightly, "It's okay, Lo, it's okay." Y/N looks over at Ayden, who has a look of sympathy on her face. "Let's get out of here."
