A few months had gone by in Jericho, and everyone was doing their assigned jobs for the day, everything going smoothly. "Ayo, Y/N! You're with me today!" Taehyung calls to the mix haired woman as he stands by the gate to the shed. "Coming!" she yells over her shoulder to Taehyung before turning back to Ayden and Anjelo, "See you guys later!" A few minutes later, they are walking by the dining hall as Y/N speaks. "What job do we have today?" "Observation." Taehyung answers smoothly while popping his knuckles. "Observation? That's new for me." The male furrows his brows at his companion, "You've not done observation yet? How have you not been assigned this yet?" Y/N shrugs with a raise of her brow. "Dunno. Guess I've just been flying under the radar." Taehyung scratches his chin in thought before reaching forward and unlocking the door to a brown building. They walk in and Y/N is automatically fascinated with the interior, the blues and purples swirling around intricately.

"God, could this get any place get any better?" she questions in amazement. Taehyung laughs at her before shaking his head. "You think this is pretty, then you should see the small lily pond that's by the playground. But we aren't here to look at the interior design. We are here to monitor something, well, someone." Taehyung finishes, causing Y/N to furrow her brows at his statement. "What do you mean by 'we have to monitor someone'?" "Exactly what I said, Y/N." Taehyung finishes before walking towards a door that's guarded by a passcode. He types it in, almost as if it was second nature to him, and opens the door after he hears a faint click. "After you." he gestures forward. Y/N's face has a look of uncertainty to it, but she walks in nonetheless. They enter the small room and are met by another door, where Taehyung enters the same code from before. This time, the room they enter isn't bright and decorated fancy.

It's worn and muted. Gray and dull, but there is something off about the room. The smell of the room is one of a kind. It reeks with the smell of mildew and mothballs, along with some sort of liquid used for marking. "Scared yet?" Taehyung questions as he grips the flashlight in his back pocket and turns it on, a small dim light shining from the device. Y/N shakes her head at his question. "Not scared, no. I just feel really uneasy.. Is there not an overhead light that we can turn on?" "He doesn't like the light." Y/N's movements pause as she glances at the tatted man beside her. "What the hell are we doing? Who are we observing?!" She can barely see his eyes, but she knows that they glance to the corner of the room. Her eyes slowly leave his and look to the direction that Taehyung's did. In the corner of the room, there's a man with long scragly hair, and he's only wearing an oversized jacket that slips just a little ways past his butt. His legs look like toothpicks and his arms the same.

"This is 1987." Almost immediately after his name was called. 1987 stands up and turns towards the flashlight. Y/N's skin bristles with nerves as she gazes at him. The light shines on 1987, and his face is decrepit. Pale, ghostly white skin, and a gaping wound on his cheek that shows the lower half of his jaw, bone, and teeth. His eyes are a cloudy blue mixture with hints of red along the outside of the iris. Y/N stares at him briefly before her instincts creep in and she pulls her knife from her boot. Taehyung quickly puts his hand out to stop her, his brows knitting together as he shakes his head. "He won't hurt you. He's docile. He hasn't hurt anyone since I've been here." That answer isn't good enough for the female because her hand tightens around her knife that lingers in her grip. "Docile or not, I'm not taking any chances! He's unliving! Dead! Taehyung, he doesn't even breathe!" she yells as she motions over to 1987, who subtly tilts his head at her discretion.

"I.. Can.. Hear.. You.. I'm.. Living.." 1987 retorts through a broken growl, causing Y/N's skin to prickle with goosebumps as she goes still. "Don't.. Worry.." he finishes. Y/N looks over to Taehyung in alarm, then back over to 1987 before her eyes stay stagnant on Taehyung. "He speaks?!" The man laughs, a mixture of a chuckle and a scoff. "That's why we're here for observation, Y/N. He might look dead, but he's just as alive as the rest of us. Aren't ya, 87?" "Yes.." Y/N shakes her head as she tries to process the new information before her. "How long has he been here?" "4.. Years.." 1987 mumbles in response, his body teetering from side to side as he walks towards them. The female's knife falls out of her hands as fear starts to overtake her features. "Breathe." Taehyung calls to her gently, his arm still in front of her. 1987 stops a short distance away from them and tilts his head rapidly as he listens. "He won't hurt you, Y/N, I promise."

Taehyung picks up her knife and slips it back into her boot, causing Y/N to startle slightly as she exhales. "Are you the only one who watches him?" she questions as she watches Taehyung stand to his full height. He shakes his head, "No. A few of the others observe him too, but I'm one of the main ones." Y/N leans against a wall with her eyes zeroed in on 1987. He twitches slightly while his head pivots but stays in his spot. "Do you have a name?" 1987 goes still before his omniscient eyes slowly flicker over to hers, his decrepit body moving backward into the darkness. His broken voice whispers out, "Rubio.."
