The trio shake off the shivers that the previous encounter left them with as they continue forward. They try not to think about it, but the thought still lingers heavily in the back of their minds. "Anyone, besides me, know how to fish?" Y/N wonders, trying to break up the tension. "Boy, we're just learning a bunch of stuff about you today, aren't we?" Ayden remarks with a soft giggle. "Oh, always. But seriously. Am I the only one who knows how to fish?" Y/N waits for a response while Ayden and Anjelo pretend to stroke their imaginary beards, thinking. "Well?" the dual-dyed woman wonders with a tilt of her head. "Yeah, I do. Anjelo?" Anjelo nods the minute his name is mentioned. "Mhm. But where are we gonna find fish at this point? There's not even a pond for miles, and who knows if the fish are dead or not?" "Couldn't you imagine seeing an undead fish? Their eyeballs would be even more creepy, all glossed over and shit." Ayden comments with a flick of her hair.
"Fish is nasty anyways." Ayden remarks with a snarl of her nose. "But if that's food, then-" "I know, I know. Can't afford to be picky in the middle of the apocalypse. Not like McDonald's is still open." Y/N emits a whine from her throat, "Now I want fries and a burger!" The other two burst into laughter as they continue walking. "But seriously, there's not a pond around here anywhere. Just trees and bushes without any fruit." "Yeah, I-" Ayden covers Y/N's mouth, causing the girl to look at her with furrowed brows as she tries to remove her hand. "Ay-" "Shh!" she whispers before turning her glance to where a few men and women were standing, "Don't make a sound." All their eyes turned to face the objects of their concerns. The people before them stood proudly with their guns latched to their hands and their hips, ammo causing their pockets to be baggy. "If we can find places to hide, we can probably sneak past them. We just have to be quiet and-"
Crunch. The people before them turn at the sudden noise, guns drawn in the air with their arms tensed. "Who goes there?!" one says. The trio stay as still as possible, but they can hear thudding footsteps slowly creeping closer. "If you don't reveal yourself now, we will shoot!" Anjelo glances at the girls before he puts his hands up in the air, "Don't shoot. We were just trying to find a way around you guys!" A small female steps forward from the group. Her face is littered with small scars and her glare is harsh. "Who are you?" "I'm Anjelo." he confirms then juts his thumb towards the girls, "The blonde is Ayden and the mixed haired is Y/N." The woman that stepped forward earlier scans the trio. "What do you want?" Her accent is Spanish and very thick, but her body is tense with purpose. "W-we only wanted to move past you guys, just like Anjelo said." Ayden responds, lowering her arms slightly. The woman sees this and aims her gun at Ayden, causing Y/N to immediately step in front of her.
"We're all human and we're just trying to survive in this world, so why don't we just call a spade a spade and you let us go without any damages." Y/N says as she stares down the barrel of the gun that's currently aimed at her face. On the outside, Y/N shows no fear, but on the inside, she's shaking. No matter how many times she finds a gun aimed at her, it will never get any easier because you never know who will pull the trigger on the other end. The woman, on the other side of the gun, narrows her eyes as they continue to stare into Y/N with rage. "We're the ones holding the guns. Don't be brash and think that we won't shoot now and ask questions later." The mix-haired woman rolls her eyes boredly. "We will let you go but you have to give us all your weapons." she states proudly. A fire ignites behind Y/N's eyes. "Are you fucking kidding me?! We'll die out there without anything!" She shrugs, not phased by the woman yelling at her.
"Not my problem. That's the terms. Either give all your weapons up or don't pass, plain and simple." Anjelo grips the spear tightly in his hands and sighs. This was ridiculous. "Why would you want to send people out there without any weapons or means to protect themselves?!" "No reason for them to keep them when they are just going to die anyway. Now what will you do?" Ayden looks at the woman like she grew an extra head within a few minutes. "You aren't taking anything from us! We could give you the spear as a parting gift but fuck all of you guys! You are just as worse as the undead!" Shortly after Ayden's yelling, soft groans could be heard coming from the woods. Everyone pauses and snaps their heads in the direction of the noises. Zombies start to pour out of the trees, almost like an undead version of the human centipede. The fear is apparent on everyone's eyes as they start to defend themselves. Shots ring out repeatedly as the number of zombies becomes bigger and bigger by the second.
Y/N, Ayden, and Anjelo go after the people that tried to steal their weapons minutes ago, stealing some of their guns as they flee with some of the others in tow behind them. "That's ours!" Bang. "You didn't have to shoot her, Ayden!" Y/N yells. "It's eat or be eaten and I'd rather live to see my brother." Ayden murmurs as she picks up the gun the enemy had, checking the corpse for any leftover bullets. Y/N shakes her head but follows with them, jogging to keep up. The trio stop to catch their breath a few miles away from the chaos that they just endured. "Sweet Jesus.." Anjelo says as he puts his hands on his knees. "We all good? No bites or anything?" he continues, before running his fingers along his body, pushing and pressing on different parts. "None." Y/N says. "None." Ayden agrees with a cough. "Alright. Let's go."
