Axel walked into the compound, being met with an upset Rebekah first.
"Axel, you missed the party," Rebekah snapped.
Axel thought back, forgetting time works differently in heaven.
"I'm so sorry, Rebekah. I had to take care of something urgent," Axel explained, "How can I make it up to you?"
"There is one way," Rebekah said, crossing her arms across her chest.
"Name it," Axel said.
"My own plate of baguettes," Rebekah smirked.
Axel chuckled lightly, knowing how much the family loved those sweets.
"I'm on it," Axel said, disappearing.
"I heard Axel. Where is he," Klaus asked, walking in as soon as he left.
"On his way. He had to get me some treats," Rebekah said.
"You didn't think to tell me before ordering him around," Klaus asked.
"You don't own him, Nik," Rebekah reasoned, "He'll be back soon."
"But he is my guardian angel," Klaus snapped.
"Barely came back home and you're already snappy," Axel asked, handing Rebekah a plate of baguettes, "Here ya go, Bex."
"Thank you," Rebekah smiled happily.
She walked away with the plate. Klaus turned to Axel with a frown.
"Where've you been," Klaus asked, watching Axel stalk up to him, "I've been trying to get ahold of you! Have you been ignoring me?! I could be dying for all you know..."
Axel pulled him into a kiss, making Klaus melt instantly.
"I'm sorry. I had a meeting with the angels," Axel said, "I didn't mean to ignore you."
"You can't disappear like that," Klaus said, softly, "You can't just take off for days without any warning. I thought you... I thought..."
Axel knew that he assumed he ditched him.
"I made a promise to you, Klaus," Axel said, "I'm not going anywhere. I will find my way back every time. Okay?"
Klaus took a deep breath, taking in Axel's scent. Surprisingly, he carried a subtle one that Klaus could barely smell unless he was close by.
"Okay," Klaus said, kissing his palm.
"I want to show you something," Axel said, "Do you trust me?"
Klaus hesitated before nodding.
Axel teleported them to the bottom of a grassy mountain. Klaus looked around as he caught his breath.
"Where are we," Klaus asked.
"Mountains," Axel smiled, "Come on."
Klaus followed him up.
"You took me here to hike," Klaus asked, stepping carefully on the green covered rock.
"I mean you can cheat," Axel said, "You're a hybrid after all."
"I wasn't trying to leave you behind," Klaus smirked.
"Try me," Axel shrugged.
