Axel was talking with Marcel and Rebekah when his phone rang. He excused himself and answered it.

"Hey, Jack, how'd it go...?"

"Starla is dead, Axel," Jack interrupted.

"What? When? How," Axel asked, confused by the sudden news.

"Once Hope transitioned, she went crazy because her soulmate died. Long story short, her suffering had to end. So we helped her... And, uh, they're about to hold a funeral. I thought it'd be good to show. Um... Also, I really need some support. I kind of wish you were here right now," Jack said, trying to sound brave.

Axel thought back to Jack's request for assistance in offering closure. He never assumed that the person he was trying to show was Starla. Guilt slammed into him as Axel knew he should've been there to assist Jack in person.

"We're on our way right now," Axel said, "Be there shortly."

"Okay, um, do you mind asking Dad to join us as well," Jack asked, "I need him."

"Of course. I'll let him know," Axel said, hanging up.

"Who was that, Axel?"

Jack looked at the people getting ready for a funeral. For once in his life, Jack felt helpless. He got out of the way and went to shave and get dressed.

The funeral was finishing up when Axel noticed another angelic presence amongst the crowd of people.

"Dad is here," Axel whispered, leaning over to Jack.

He noticed the faint, grateful smile on his face. The assembly was dismissed to associate and comfort the family.

"Axel, Jack."

They both turned to face their father, causing their backs to tense in salute.

"Relax, boys. You're fine," Lucifer reassured, resting his hands on their shoulders, "I heard what happened. How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine," Axel said, glancing at Jack.

"I'm good too," Jack said, mustering a smile.

"Are you," Lucifer asked, staring at Jack.

"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be," Jack asked.

"I'm going to take your younger brother from you, Axel," Lucifer said, "Jack, come along."

Jack followed Lucifer to talk. He walked with him, listening to him explain his time on earth.

"How are you doing," Lucifer asked, repeating his previous question.

"I said I'm fine, Dad," Jack said, shaking his head.

"Except you weren't being honest now, were you," Lucifer said, giving him a knowing look.

"How would you know," Jack asked, getting into a defensive posture.

"For one, you're getting defensive. Two, I'm your father, Jack. I know when you are lying to me. And three, you wouldn't have called me here if you could handle it. You and Axel both do that when you need extra support," Lucifer explained, "Tell me the truth, son."

Jack lowered his eyes to the ground.

"I... I feel like a failure," Jack confessed, his eyes going bloodshot, "I wanted to save her so bad and I couldn't. Then when Landon suggested me to help... I can barely look at him, Dad."
