WARNINGS: Character Death; Assisted Suicide

Landon stood up, walking over to him. Clarke pulled him into a hug which was unnatural even for Landon. Clarke wasn't the physical affection type, unless it was necessary.

"I came as soon as I heard," Clarke said, "How is she?"

"Not good. She tried to hurt Hope," Landon said.

Clarke gave a look of sorrow before dropping his eyes.

"Which means she's suffering," Clarke said, "We can't save her, Landon

"Which means she's suffering," Clarke said, "We can't save her, Landon. No one can."

"There has to be another way, right," Landon reasoned, "There's always another way. Jack can heal her."

"Starla's condition is all mental. Healing won't do anything but prolong her pain," Jack reasoned.

"We're not going to allow her to be mentally tortured until we find a solution," Clarke said, "Landon, why do you think she's always gone? Starla was trying to find a way to prevent this before Hope transitioned. I was helping as much as I could, but there's nothing that could've prevented this."

Landon turned his head away in disbelief.

"She's my sister," Landon said, his voice cracking, "I'm not ready to give her up."

"You never will be," Clarke reasoned, "None of us will be. Starla isn't someone who can easily be forgotten. Her memories will live on, Landon. But we can't let her suffer like this. She wouldn't do that to you if the roles were switched."

"Your sudden maturity is starting to make me regret being an ass to you when we first met," Landon teased.

Clarke huffed out a chuckle.

"How do we put her to rest," Landon asked.

Rafael revealed the needle, Starla had him hold onto for her. Like she knew that it would come to this, and Landon wouldn't be ready to let her go.

"She gave this to me," Rafael said, "It has gold in it and poison strong enough to... Do the job."

"I'll do it," Clarke sighed, "Save you kids the trouble of killing someone you love."

Clarke took the syringe. He patted Rafael's shoulder before going to the cell.

Landon stayed in the living room with Rafael and the others. His friends also joined them since they heard what happened. Clarke came back soon enough with tear stains going down his face.

"Ryan..."

"She's gone," Clarke said, lifting his head to meet their eyes.

"I didn't know becoming the tribrid would do this," Hope said, feeling guilty for her death.

"You wouldn't have known," Clarke reasoned, "It's not your fault."

Jack stepped forward.

"I can... I can offer some comfort," Jack said, "If you're okay with that."

They agreed to his offer.

"Axel if you can hear me. I need you're guidance on offering closure," Jack said, feeling the mental presence of his older brother.

Jack reached out his hands to Landon. He grabbed them before Jack turned to his brothers. Clarke and Rafael added their hands on top of his shoulders. Jack heard Axel's voice in his head.

"Mentally picture the person you want to reach. Then use your angelic eyes to allow them to be seen," Axel said.

Jack took a deep breath. Then he looked up, his eyes shining a gold coloration. Clarke, Rafael, and Landon sucked in their breaths as strings of gold connected their eyes.

Landon looked around, noticing Clarke and Rafael beside him.

"Guys, what are you doing here," Starla asked.

"You can... You can see us," Landon asked.

"Of course, I can see you, dumbass," Starla smirked.

"You don't get to leave without saying goodbye," Rafael said.

Starla's eyes began tear up. She hugged him tightly, squeezing her eyes shut.

"I'm gonna be okay," Starla reassured, "I'm sorry I decided to randomly die on you."

Rafael chuckled as tears fell down his cheeks.

"I love you, Star," Rafael whispered.

"I love you too, Raf," Starla smiled, kissing him on the forehead.

She turned to Clarke.

"We almost saved you," Clarke said.

"My death was inevitable, Ryan. We both know that. Still thank you for trying to help anyway," Starla said, trying to muster a smile, "I love you so much."

Clarke hugged her.

"Make sure you continue to prove our father wrong," Starla said, "You are nothing like him. You are so much better than he ever will be, understand?"

Clarke gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. Landon stared at the ground as she turned to him.

"Landon..."

"There has to be another way," Landon said, looking up at her, "I can't lose you."

"You're not losing me. I'll be watching over you. But you have to live for me. Go out and have fun. Enjoy spending time with your soulmate. Adopt a dog or cat or whatever. Live your life with no regrets. And when you are ready, I'll meet you on the other side," Starla said, more tears falling from her eyes, "I promise."

Landon hugged her tightly, crying into her hair.

"Are you gonna be okay here," Landon asked.

"Of course, I am. Mom is already waiting for me. I'm grateful you all chose to let me go," Starla said, "Tell Hope it wasn't her fault this happened. Also, let her know it's okay to move on. Allow herself to fall in love again with someone else."

Landon kissed Starla on the cheek. His finger stayed hooked with hers.

"See you on the other side," Landon whispered, allowing his finger to slip away.

"Goodbye, little brother."
