School is back in full swing and so is the basketball season. Trevor is on the varsity basketball team as is Jace. They both have been training their asses off. I started conditioning with whoever wanted to be on the team once school started. I didn't bother to wait until the season to start putting in work.
Colton and I have quite a name for ourselves in rebuilding the team over the past year and are favorites to win the state championship this season. Plus, we have Seniors that graduate and got scholarships to D1 schools and this year will be no different.
We've expanded our coaching staff which was desperately needed. Plus, if Colt and I are unavailable, which is rare, the show can go on. Better to have backup than to be scrambling. I give the team whatever they need to excel and all I ask for in return is for them to put in the work on and off the court. I don't know how long I would be doing this, but as long as it's enjoyable and fulfilling, we could keep the train going.
Family wise, Colt and Ruby are engaged and Colt plans on adopting Zayn. He says the plan is for them to be married within the next year and Ruby wants to go all out. I know how reserved she can be and doesn't do a lot for herself.
Since Ruby's been with Colt, I've seen a much softer side to her and she deserves to be treated like the Queen she is. Looks like we'll be celebrating yet another milestone in this family. There's always a party for something.
Harlow celebrated her 16th birthday and I went all out. Her party was lavish to say the least. Although she wanted a car and driving in Texas is fully legal at 16, she won't be getting a car of her own until her Junior year when she turns 17.
She begged for a tattoo which I wasn't budging on, that being that she snuck behind my back last Summer and got one. We settled on her getting her nose pierced which is actually fitting. She's still pushing the whole tattoo and for the two of us to get a matching one. While I'm not against it, she definitely won't be getting any more ink within the next year.
It's a Wednesday and I'm at the school in my office. My office hours are usually 8 to noon and then I come back after a lunch break for practice. Being that I have a daughter, niece, and a team to look after, my mornings are usually filled with emails or requests to check in to certain classes. Apparently my presence has changed a lot of behavior of certain students.
Checking my email I saw two from Harlow's teachers. One said she was late to first period and the other said she was late to her most recent class and fell asleep near the end. Looking at the time, I saw she should be in lunch then had a free period directly after.
Harlow lucked up with her schedule this year. Seniors got a longer lunch and she had hers the same time they did. She couldn't leave campus, but she'd be able to have lunch with Luna and her boyfriend, Drake.
I had no issues with Drake and honestly felt he was good for Harlow. I've seen him not waver to her batting her eyelashes and pout to get what she wants. He pushes her to be better in her classes and even helps if she has any trouble. He hasn't broken her curfew once and his parents along with his brothers are lovely people. As long as she's doing what she needs to, she can enjoy her love bubble. The second she starts acting crazy, I'll bring her back to reality.
I sighed and shook my head before replying to the emails letting them know I'd handle the situation. There was then a knock on my office door. I said come in to whoever it was. Looking up, I saw Trevor.
"Hey, pops."
Hearing him address me as pops meant that I didn't need to have my Coach hat on, but more of my dad one. He hasn't come into my office too often.
