Trevor
"Whatever bright idea you have, I don't want in on it," Harlow said.
She was about to close the door in my face when I stopped her.
"Come on, here me out."
"Here you out about what?" I heard from behind me.
I didn't need to them around to face Pops because he has the ability to catch me in a lie with ease.
"He's trying to steal Drake away to join the stupid game with him and Jace."
"Neither of you stay up too late."
"Alright, pops."
"Night, dad."
"Love you both."
"Love you, too," we replied, simultaneously.
Harlow pulled me into her room.
"Hold on a sec."
Babe, let me call you back in a few, T needs something. Uh huh. Okay. Love you, too.
"Drake said hi. Anyways, what's this dumb ass bright idea you have?"
I rolled my eyes at her sarcasm.
"So you know how my mom has is doing a few renovations and turning our old house into an Air BnB."
"Uh huh."
"And you know how she and pops are going to Dallas on Friday so she can look at a few properties there since we don't have games this weekend."
"Yeah, I'm staying with 'Emma and they'll be back sometime Saturday. Aren't you going to Jace's?"
I didn't say anything and from the look on her face it started to click in her head.
"Trevor, are you crazy! Our parents will kill us."
"No, they won't. It's not that bad if you think about it."
"Um, hello. Earth to dingbat. Do you not realize my birthday is coming?"
"Okay. Regardless of what happens, pops isn't going to not celebrate your birthday."
"I'm trying to get a car."
"You know your grandparents probably already purchased it."
"Yeah, but this could prevent me from driving it!"
"Relax, relax. You're getting your license on your birthday because you're going to pass with flying colors. If we do get caught, which we won't, then pops will just keep you from driving for a little bit. Come on, it's rare our folks are out of town like this and allow us to hang out with friends instead of family."
"Yeah and if they go out of town together again, we'll always be stuck with family."
I sucked my teeth.
"I'm doing this with or without you."
"Oh, I'm sure you are."
"So..."
"I guess a small kickback wouldn't hurt."
I smiled.
"See, big sis is on board and seeing things my way. Don't worry, I have everything planned."
"Did you tell anyone your plans?"
"No, I'm not that stupid. We don't need a party breaking out. We can just hang out on some chill shit with our friends and leave it at that."
"We both have a lot of friends, Trevor. You are on the Varsity basketball team after all."
"I got this. It's not going to be a problem."
