Liam
The rest of the week went by smoothly. Harlow said she was fine to return to school on Thursday and there was no backlash from the incident. Friday after practice, I got a text from my barber that he'd arrive at my house within the next hour. That gave both Trevor and I enough time to get home and change. Then after we got our hair cut we'd be heading out for dinner and to the arcade; his pick.
Entering my house, I heard laughing coming from the living room. There was pizza and wine glasses with ginger ale and the red wine Kenz loved so much. I couldn't help but laugh seeing my girlfriend and daughter were already getting their night started and the sun was just barely setting.
Trevor went over and did his handshake with Izzy, kissed his mom's cheek, and took off to go shower and change. We had a guest suite for company, but I gave him free reign of any of the other free rooms and bathrooms upstairs to make it his own and feel at home. He had stuff that he left here and always made sure it was clean.
"Hey, dad," Harlow greeted.
"Hey, baby girl."
I dropped a kiss on her forehead before stealing a bite of Kenz's pizza.
"How was practice?" Kenz asked.
"Tough. Big game tomorrow and we had a lot to brush up on. Between watching film and getting into a routine, it's been a rough few weeks. They want to make it to the playoffs, they have to put in the work."
"You've brought a lot of attention to the team, dad."
"I'm glad. The team has been putting in the work and as long as everyone does their best, that's all I could ask for. Yeah, I'd love to win, that's the goal. Right now, it's a new team, new start so getting this far and doing so well is a bonus. That's the true test of coaching to me, having a solid team."
I was about to steal another bite of Kenz's pizza when she just handed me the rest of the slice. I kissed her cheek.
"So, what did you two get into this afternoon?"
Harlow instantly smiled.
"We went and got pedicures and I got my nails done. Look."
She held out her hands and I looked over at Kenz seeing my daughter's nails. She naturally had fairly long nails. I noticed they were almond shaped and each nail had a different design.
"Couldn't choose what I wanted so I put a few different concepts together."
I nodded.
"As long as they're not long enough to poke someone in the eye from a mile away, have at it."
She giggled.
"How much did that cost?"
"It was my treat," Kenz cut in.
"Kenz..."
"What? You always pay for everything."
"As I should. Aside from her being my daughter and my responsibility, I take care of mine. That extends to you and T. When you guys go out, even if I'm not present, I can cover it. Harls has my credit card for that reason."
She rolled her eyes.
"Just how you want to do nice things for Trevor, I do the same for Harlow. I'm not going back and forth with you about it, Liam. I appreciate all that you do and I know money isn't a huge factor for you. Still, I have the right to do what I like with my money and if that's paying for things here and there, so be it. I'll be back, Harlow."
I watched McKenzie get up and go upstairs. I shook my head.
"Good job, dad," Harper sarcastically mumbled.
