Liam
The end of the school year was busy for both Harlow and Trevor. He was finishing up 8th grade and had a lot of activities surrounding that. Harlow had her debate tournaments and killed it. She was so composed and even though we had a celebratory dinner for her, she was very modest and said we didn't need to brag. I could only imagine where she got that from.
We just celebrated Mother's Day and this week all the attention is now turned to Trevor as we're celebrating both his graduation and 14th birthday. Since he'll be with his father for his birthday, McKenzie wanted to celebrate both occasions.
His father, Lance and his wife Hannah arrived Thursday night and Trevor's graduation was this morning. McKenzie invited them to dinner Thursday night and I suggested they come to dinner at my house. McKenzie was already having Sunday brunch at hers and then the trio would be leaving Sunday night.
Dinner was fine. Lance and Hannah seemed tired from their travels. They both made convo with us all before heading to their hotel. Friday was when the fireworks began. Lance had far more energy than the night before and was adamant about being as close to McKenzie as he could. The man hasn't been here 24 hours and here he goes getting on my damn nerves.
After Trevor's graduation, Ms. Anna wanted everyone to go to lunch at Drew's restaurant. Hannah really went out of her way in an effort to talk to not just Trevor, but Harlow as well. She bought him a gift separate from what Lance got him although it all coordinated. It was a pair of sneakers and outfit, plus a chain he'd been asking for. I was just happy to see him happy.
Hannah's change of demeanor towards Trevor has been refreshing. Hey, sometimes becoming a parent changes people. That seems to be the case for Hannah. I know that puts McKenzie's mind at ease being that he'd be away for the next 2 and half months in her care.
As for Lance, I was biting my tongue and trying my best to control my temper. He's been adamant about being as close to Kenz as possible and acting as if I don't exist. Right now I'm watching the convo between the two of them across the room. My body was tense. Her back was to me and it's as if he wanted me to see him talk with her. I watched as he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and she swatted his hand away.
She stepped back and he grabbed her hand. Yeah, he was way too fucking touchy for me. I got up to go over there when Colt blocked my path. I quickly side stepped him and reached McKenzie protectively wrapping my arms around her waist, pulling her behind me.
"Liam, it's okay," McKenzie whispered.
I kept my eyes focused on Lance.
"Yeah, Liam, relax. We were just talking. No need to be threatened," he stated.
I chuckled at him saying that.
"Treasure, Lance and I need to have a chat alone."
"Liam..."
"It's fine, baby. Two men can converse without there being an issue. Go ahead and sit down."
She sighed but relented, leaving Lance and I to talk.
"What do you want to chat about, superstar?" he sarcastically asked with a smirk.
"This is funny to you, huh?"
He looked confused.
"What do you mean?"
"Causing chaos is funny to you. You've been in McKenzie's face all day all while your wife is just a few feet away. You want to get under my skin. You want to be a jackass in front of all these people. Today, this occasion isn't about you. It's not about me. We don't have to like each other and we don't even have to agree. The only thing we have in common is Trevor."
