Liam
Kenz has been asleep for the past hour. She called and confirmed breakfast with Lance and Hannah. We watched a movie, ate dinner, then after a glass of wine, she was out. I carried her up to her room and put her in bed before changing into something more comfortable and heading back downstairs to wait for Harlow and Trevor. They came in just after 10pm, talking and laughing.
"Hey, dad," Harlow greeted.
"Hey, Coach."
I motioned for both of them to lower their voices. Kenz was a light sleeper and any sudden movements or loud voices would wake her up.
"Mom's sleeping?" Trevor whispered.
"No, I'm awake."
Looking past them I saw McKenzie. Her hair was damp and she had on one of her lounge sets which means she took a shower.
"Baby, you should be resting."
"I'm fine, Liam. The nap was what I needed after a long day."
She hugged both Harlow and Trevor before coming and sitting next to me on the couch.
"So, how was your night out, guys?" she asked the kids.
They both sat down, making themselves comfortable.
"It was so much fun. We went riding on 4-wheelers then dinner and the arcade."
"He raced me and almost beat me, but I'm too good," Harlow boasted.
"One of these days I'll beat you, Harlow Law. Just you wait."
She patted his bat.
"In your dreams, lil bro."
I chuckled and shook my head at them. My phone started to ring. It was Julian.
Hello.
What's up bro? Hope I'm not interrupting.
What's up Julez?
We're down at the bar. You going to join us?
Yeah, I'll swing by.
Alright, see you when you get here.
I hung up and stood up.
"I'm heading to the bar with the guys. You good?" I asked Kenz.
"Yeah. Go have fun."
"Can we play on the game?"
Kenz groaned.
"Sure, just don't stay up all night. Tomorrow is a long day and you have an early start," Trevor
"Why aren't we having breakfast here?" Trevor asked.
"You talked about going shopping before the party so Drew and Lauren are picking you up. Liam and I are having breakfast with your dad and Hannah."
"Really? Dad, you're okay with that? Like, you and Mr. Lance in a room again?"
I looked towards my daughter.
"Just fine, Harlow. I know how to control myself. I only get crazy when warranted."
"You've met my dad, it's warranted," T mumbled.
"Trevor..." McKenzie said in a warning tone.
"What? You know it's the truth! Look how he was today and Mr. Liam has done nothing but be there for us. Dad should want to get to know who's apart of my life because I've been forced to do the same. Ms. Hannah seems alright, but who's to say I can trust her, too? Dad is being a typical jerk and Ms. Hannah is all nice and shit in front of you. What the f-..."
