Harlow
Sitting in my hospital room with Luna and Aunt Bianca, I tried my best to relax even though my mind was racing. All I can remember is one of my friends giving me a brownie. I told them I wasn't going to smoke and they said I could at least enjoy their snacks. I didn't know they were laced. Stupid of me to eat anything homemade at a party.
I started feeling weird after I ate it and went to get some water hoping it'd make me feel better. I went to the bathroom and then it's as if the room started spinning. That couldn't have been because of weed. Weed doesn't do that to my body. I got scared and then started sweating and next thing I know, I'm on the bathroom floor.
Honestly, I was in and out of it. I could hear voices, but couldn't make out who it was. It was a weird feeling. Like I wanted to get up and say I was alright, but I couldn't.
The next time I woke up I was in the hospital. Where was my dad? How'd I get here? Where's T, Jace, and Emma? My dad is going to kill me. How could I be such an idiot? I begged to go to that party and I couldn't handle it.
I don't know how long I had been here before my dad was at my bedside. I saw the relief on his face when I said his name. He grabbed my hand and told me that everything would be okay, that he loved me, and he was so happy I was awake.
From there it was visitor after visitor checking on me. That included Mama Kenz, my grandparents, T, Luna, Uncle Ty, Aunt Izzy, Aunt Bianca and Uncle Brian. I didn't even know Luna was coming home.
She said it was going to be a surprise. I knew more family would be trickling in eventually. This was so embarrassing. She and Aunt Bianca have been sitting with me ever since he stepped out.
"Is dad coming back?" I asked.
My aunt quickly nodded.
"Yes, of course. He was talking to the doctor then checking on McKenzie and Trevor. He's not leaving you and if he's not physically here, all I have to do is call him. Plus, someone will always be by your side," she said, stroking my hand.
"I'm such a baby," I muttered.
"No, you're not. It's okay to be scared. You had a rough night."
"Yeah, that's all my fault."
"Hey, this is just a rough patch. We'll figure it out, together. We always do. That's what family is for," Luna cut in.
"Yeah, but my problems don't have to be your problems."
Luna sucked her teeth.
"Girl, get used to not having to deal with anything by yourself in this family. There's always someone to catch you when you fall and there's nothing wrong with that," she added.
The door opened and I was hoping it was my dad, but it was Dr. Page.
"How you feeling, kiddo?"
"I'm fine, thanks."
He nodded and looked over at Aunt Bianca. Why is he looking at her like that? I know if Uncle Brian was here, he wouldn't be doing all that.
Uncle Brian is very blunt and doesn't hold back to snap you back to reality. Aunt Bianca said it's one of the things she loves most about him. Some say he's mean. While his approach can be harsh sometimes, when you really listen to what he says, it's not that bad. I've been on the receiving end of his lectures lately and man can he go on, and on, and on!
Then there's Uncle Cameron who I like to call a teddy bear. He doesn't seem like he wants to be bothered when you first meet him, but once you get to know him, he's the nicest guy ever. He melts for Aunt Addison.
