'Tom!', Bill shouted again, while me and Tom were running down the stairs.

'Jesus Christ Bill I'm here, stop yelling!', Tom said, stopping in front of him who was in the middle of the living room.

Jocelyn was standing next to Bill, biting her nails nervously, and shifting her gaze from Bill to Tom, whereas Bill looked simply furious.

'What the fuck is your problem!', he yelled, taking a step closer to his brother.

'What did I do this time', Tom said, almost resigned.

'Did you fucking sleep with Jocelyn?', Bill asked him, an inch away from his face.

My mouth opened automatically, while I looked at Jocelyn who was walking closer to me with glossy eyes.
Tom whitened at those words, and he started to stutter, all panicky.

'What?', I said, turning to Bill and Tom.

'Yeah Pearl, your perfect boyfriend slept with my perfect girlfriend', Bill said in a sarcastic tone, pointing to Tom first then to Jocelyn.

My heart fell to my stomach, while I stared at both of them.
She looked completely crushed, panicked, meanwhile Tom looked like he calmed down from the sudden scare, when he walked towards me.

'Pearl, let me explain', he started to say taking my hand.
'Yes, I slept with her. But this was all the way back in April, I don't know why this is coming up now', he said to me, before turning to Bill and looking at him confused.

I felt my heart starting to beat again after Tom's explanation.
I would've preferred if he told me from the moment I met Jocelyn, but at the end of the day he was free to do whatever he wanted before being with me, and I couldn't get mad at him for his past, I would've been an hypocrite.
Bill, however, didn't seem to think about it the same way I did, and he got even more pissed off at Tom's explanation, while he threw his keys on the ground.

'It's coming up now because she just told me!', he yelled.
Jocelyn, in the meantime, stood still beside me with tears in her eyes, incapable of saying a single word.

'Did you even think to tell me first, as your brother?', he asked Tom, who looked at him even more confused.

'She told me she already told you!', Tom shouted, looking towards Jocelyn, who by then took her face into her hands, hiding it.

Bill turned his head to her, shaking it a bit, a disappointed and hurt look in his eyes.

'Of course she did', he whispered, nodding, and sitting on one of the kitchen's stools.

'Bill', Jocelyn tried to say, getting closer to him, but he raised his hand to tell her not to get any closer.

'Pearl', Bill said, raising his head a bit to look at me.

'Yes?', I answered, taking a few steps closer.

'You have nothing to say about this?', he asked.

I looked around before answering, observing Tom to his left who looked at me with a begging look in his eye, and Jocelyn to my right who began to cry in hopelessness.

'I mean, me and Jocelyn didn't know each other back then', I said shrugging my shoulders.
'And me and Tom weren't dating, we were barely even friends. Plus, I had my own thing going on with another boy', I saw Tom rolling his eyes when he heard that I was dating someone else, which made me giggle, but I tried to hide it after seeing Bill getting agitated again and standing up from the stool.

'So this is not a big deal for you?', he asked me, as if I just told him the most obscene thing I could've ever said.

'No', I replied, 'and honestly I don't get why it is a big deal for you. You told me you started dating her about a month ago.'
