I was quite confused about Tom's behaviour that day.
We never spent so much time together before, and - even if we spent most of those 4 hours in silence, - I still felt some kind of tension between us.
I didn't like that, - I didn't know what it was but I was sure that something wasn't right.'Well, let's go eat now', I said a couple of minutes after, breaking that awkward silence between us. I got up and got to the door with Tom behind me, but when we walked down to the living room I noticed that Bill wasn't home.
He wasn't in his room either, because it was empty when we walked past it.'Where's Bill?', I asked Tom, looking around to find him.
'No idea', Tom said, shrugging his shoulders and sitting down on a stool in front of the kitchenette.
Right in that moment, the front door opened and Bill entered the house.
He turned around and saw me, while smiling.'Finally, I thought you two-', he spoke, but he stopped immediately after seeing Tom, with a shocked look on his face.
'Tom, what the hell did you do to your hair?', he said, almost shouting, walking up to Tom to observe him and analyse his braids.'What? You don't like them?', Tom said, taking one braid in his hand, almost rethinking about his decision after Bill's exclamation.
If there was something that I knew about Tom was that he was really insicure when it came to Bill's opinion on basically anything, - he really took Bill's thoughts to heart.'No, they're pretty, I just didn't see it coming', Bill said, smiling at his brother, 'you look good, though. You seem more badass', he laughed, backing up a little, and I saw Tom's mouth slowly curve in a smile and his gaze softening, letting go of the sudden worry.
'Thank you, it was actually Pearl who did them', he said pointing at me, while I was smiling, - clearly proud of my work.
'You should drop out of college then, you have a very bright future being a hairstylist', a voice behind Bill said.
At first I was confused, as I didn't see anyone besides him entering the house, but following the voice I saw Georg and Gustav standing right behind him, and my smile grew even bigger.
Georg smiled back, opening his arms, waiting for me to run to him and hug him.
I didn't think twice and just ran to him, suffocating him with a tight hug, that was quickly replaced with Gustav's hug.'We missed you, Pearl', he said slightly squeezing me and swinging me from side to side.
'I missed you too guys, I really did. I'm sorry'
I didn't know why I apologised, I just felt the need to do so.
And it was true, I really did miss seeing them almost everyday and spending all my free time with them; they were my best friends, my brothers, someone I could run to when I felt the necessity to do so.
If I was in any kind of danger, if I needed advice or just a shoulder to cry on, they were there for me, and I was there for them.
Bill, however, was the person I was the most attached to: he was practically the backbone of my life, - he was almost like a mentor to me, and I knew he was my soulmate.
Bill was the only reason why I was glad and reliefied, - even if just a little bit, - that I didn't succeed in my intentions that night.
And Tom, - well Tom surely wasn't one of the people who I couldn't live without, but I didn't hate him as much.'Alright you guys, we'll have all the time to hug and kiss, now can we please eat?', Bill said, taking me out of Gustav's arms and leading us to the fridge.
Again, it was Bill who cooked: I did try to offer my help, but he said I would've been more helpful if I got away from the stove, and without many complaints, I did.
I did, however, help Tom set the table, because I didn't like the idea of being a burden for Bill, - sitting in his house and not helping around.
