Tom's POV

'Bill, can I talk to you for a second?', I said looking at my brother.

The situation was getting out of hand: Jocy lying for Pearl, Paige standing on a corner while Pearl death stared her, Pearl wanting to throw a party in the middle of the day.
I knew things weren't going to end well, especially if she called Christian over just to get back at me for letting Paige stay for the night.

She was right, though, if she was mad about her, but I wanted to make sure she knew I didn't sleep with her.

'Yeah', he replied, glancing to Jocy before following me upstairs to his bedroom.

'A party? Seriously?', I asked him, but he wasn't him I was mad at, it was myself for allowing Pearl to push me away and do everything by herself.
I knew her enough to know that her coping mechanism was self destruction.

'I'm sorry', he sighed, 'I just wanted to cheer her up.'

'You know she asked Christian to come over, right?', I said, closing the door.

'Yeah, so?'

'So?', I asked him, sighing.
'Bill, I think he hurt her.'

Bill shook his head, laughing.
I knew he wouldn't have believed me, and I wasn't sure myself of what I was saying, but I would have proved to him that I was right.

'Look Tom, I know you hate him', he said, 'but he's not that type of guy, and you know it.'

'Yeah?', I said, with a provoking tone, 'then tell me why when I grabbed her wrists she flinched in pain. Tell me why her skin was bruised, unless you want to tell me it was Jocelyn who did that.'

Bill remained speechless for a few seconds, then he spoke with a low voice:'maybe she hurt herself?'

I shook my head angrily, nobody was going to convince me that she did that to herself, I knew her too well.

'No Bill, what I saw on her skin wasn't something she could have done herself', I sighed, tilting my head back, 'trust me, I'll prove it to you.'

'Fine', he agreed, 'either way, he's probably on his way.'

'I don't want him near her, let alone here', I said, sitting on the edge of the bed.
Bill followed my example and came to sit next to me with his hands on his knees, thinking.

'You know how stubborn she is', he said, 'if you don't let him in, she'll leave with him. If he truly is hurting her, maybe it's better if we keep a close eye on the both of them.'

I nodded, agreeing.
As much as I hated seeing him with her, to the point where I could have punched him, I wanted to see for myself if he was putting his hand on her.
That way I would have killed him personally.

Me and Bill were still sitting on his bed when we heard the bell ringing, followed by the voices of a few people entering the house.

'Hi Chris!', I heard Pearl yell from downstairs.
I shook my head, laughing irritated; I knew she did it on purpose.

'We better go downstairs', I said, standing up followed by Bill behind me.

Downstairs, there were at least twenty people with bottles of alcohol in their hands.
They were Christian's friends, but I recognised Elijah, with his glasses and a big smile on his face.
He was the only one among them who I knew, and the only who I could've trusted.

Pearl was draped all over Christian: her hands wrapped around his neck, his hands going up and down her back, while she kissed his cheek first, his jaw, and his neck.
Christian was staring at me, with a grin on his face.
