×Angie POV×
I laughed so hard that it made my stomach cramp.
"Stop it, Keza, I swear-""No, I'm being dead serious about this. I would've hooked up with that guy.", she repeated, simultaneously shaking her head as if she still couldn't believe it.
Keza almost made out with our cases victim only that it turned out he was the vampire all along. Some might think that she'd be embarrassed now, but feelings like shame just weren't in Kezas vocabulary. Honestly, it was one of the reasons I enjoyed being around her. In private, she was the most authentic person I've ever met.
"Now, what are you chit chatting about again?", I heard Justin's voice behind us.
I didn't even notice him coming into the bureau."Very important case details. Since you're always so prudent that not the tiniest detail gets lost.", I immediately responded, still giggling to myself.
"Girl, that's not going into the file!", Keza intervened, peeking over my shoulder to see what I was writing. Justin came closer too but after a quick scan headed back to the entrance of our bureau.
"Make sure to send it to me asap, I need to proof read that thing, Lia.", he reminded me.
Concerning the paper work, he was really in his professional attitude, no matter how inappropriate Kezas and my conversations got.If he had wanted to avoid that, he shouldn't have paired me up with his cousin in the first place. He should've seen that chaotic friendship coming from miles away.
I had been working for Justin's department pretty much since I came back from hell now and it was the best use of my time.
Accidentally rescuing my former best friend on the same day I had been loosing my memory must've been fate.
Since he ended on "next time I'll see you, I'll kill you" all those years ago, I never would've thought that he'd be open to talk. But he seemed so relieved and thankful that I came to kill the vamps that the thought of doing any harm to me didn't even seem to cross his mind.
Instead, he proposed to meet up the next day.
To catch up and drink a coffee.
Like normal people did.It just felt so good to tell someone what had been going on in my life. Justin was probably the only person left who knew how much Len had meant to me and he was truly sorry for my loss.
He even apologized for his reaction when he found out I was a nephilim and explained that he wasn't seeing things in black and white anymore.
I was also surprised to hear that he didn't even tell his family what I was, he had kept that secret with him all those years even if we weren't in contact anymore.
Justin said he'd been hearing good things about me, that Lens and my hunting stories from across the world had impressed a few people.
It wasn't a huge surprise that Justin himself had kept hunting too: It was a family legacy. News to me were that he got to lead a special task force for Interpol dealing with supernatural disturbances.
Justin wouldn't just offer a place to anyone and he made it very transparent that if he hadn't seen first hand that I didn't only have the necessary skills but also that my heart was in the right place, he wouldn't have suggested I'd become part of the team.
