×Dean POV×
Was I too hard on Angie?
I didn't exactly tell her that she couldn't come back to the Impala with Sam and I.
On the other hand, I knew Angie well enough to be sure that she wouldn't follow me uninvited. We had tried hard to convince her and make this alliance happen, it frustrated me that I just wasn't able to control my temper around her to keep the peace.
Are you angry?
She had asked that question like she really needed to know. Like she had no clue what she did. Those huge brown eyes had been looking at me with a strange kind of guilt but she couldn't even know where it was coming from.
If Angie learned the truth right now, it would completely destroy the tiny piece of trust that she had placed in Sam and me. Killing Lucifer and possibly dealing with other signs of the apocalypse was the highest priority right now.
Even from further away I spotted Sammy who waved a car goodbye. Shit, I probably missed Ellen, Rufus and Jo. If I didn't want to be hit by Ellen again, I'd have to call her later this day to tell her that everything was fine.
I really had to get used to the fact that people besides Bobby were worrying about Sam and me. Even under those fucked up circumstances in this destroyed town I was glad to see them again.
I would've liked to catch up and get some drinks but it made sense that they left: Police and special agencies would show up soon and it would be stupid to stick around any longer for this.
Sam noticed that I was approaching.
"Justin ordered a team to investigate, he's meeting the helicopter on that field that we passed on our way into town.", he said without preamble.
"Makes sense.", I responded once I was close enough that I wouldn't need to shout to make him hear what I was saying.
The town needed more than investigation, they needed a trauma-team or -in this case- actually a memory reset. To our right there was another body. Someone had covered the person with a blanket but the wind must've shifted the fabric a bit.
Sam and I bent over at the same time to rearrange the blanket when I felt the air slightly vibrate.
Usually it was I sign that Cas appeared but when I looked up again, it was Zachariah.Behind him, two other men wearing suits. Likely some highly trained angel soldiers.
Angels of the lord, trained to kill.
If we weren't in danger right now, I'd laugh at the absurdity.Didn't we endure enough today?
Why did Zachariah manage to find us right this moment?"Oh, thank God. The angels are here. Thanks for the help but you're about a day too late.", I greeted him coldly.
"I'm not here to help."
I glanced over to my brother who looked exactly how I felt: Disgusted.
"At least he's honest.", I whispered, not caring that Zachariah likely still heard it with his angel-mojo or whatever."What are you here about then?", Sam wanted to know.
Good question.Zachariah seemed to think so too. His lips formed into a creepy smile and I just noticed that Sam and I subconsciously stepped back a few metres.
"The Michael sword. We know you're looking for it.""I thought y'all lost it?"
A slow nod.
He nodded like we weren't worth the gesture, as if he wanted to keep the motion as effortless as possible.
"It happened to be true. We really did loose the Michael sword. We truly couldn't find it. Turns out you've been keeping it impossibly close, Dean."
