×Angie POV×
It wasn't planned, I wasn't on a hunt.
But I could feel their presence.Even though I had just wanted to get some groceries before the supermarket closed down since there was absolutely nothing at home, the evil just never seemed to sleep.
I was debating on wether I should just kill them on my way back but the building looked abandoned, shady. It was very likely those vampires I felt on the edge of my perception had a hostage, a private blood bank.
And if this was involving an innocent person, I had to react fast, there was no way I'd ignore that.
I did have a demon blade on me but other than that, I had to rely on my powers.
Mentally, I made a note to myself to just bring my weapons everywhere. Even to the supermarket. In the backyard of the house, there was an open window that I used to break in.
The inside of the building was even nastier than I had anticipated from the outside: the air was stale, the walls seemed to be rotten and brittle.
As predicted, there were 7 vampires, sleeping. I didn't even have to check their fangs, the bad energy coming off them was proof enough. Soon it would get dark and those blood suckers were getting up by that time.
I was debating on how to handle this. The first kill would be easy but I doubted that all the others would stay asleep at the sound of me beheading their friend.
Unless...That Sam guy told me that I had been getting better with my powers, that I even wrapped the two of us in some kind of blanket to save us from the explosion. It was a defense tool but what if I used that same kind of vacuum to stop any sound from getting out?
Why hadn't I asked more questions when I had the chance?
I had been so lost, so confused but I my fear had dominated my actions.
Fear of getting to know what I did during the last months.
And maybe also fear that I lost something really, really good.Right now, I had to be brave.
I was willing to try my powers.
Even if I failed and those other vampires woke up, I was confident I could still take them altogether. It would just get a lot messier and I'd most definitely get injured.Holding my breath in anticipation, I tried envisioning what I wanted my powers to do. Once I saw the golden shimmer wrapped around me and the sleeping vampire in front of me, I aimed my blade and cut off his head in a clean motion.
I looked around, seeing if anyone noticed. Nothing.
This was so easy, it almost felt wrong killing them like this. They didn't even stood the chance to defend themselves.Suddenly, I heard a muffled sound out of the corner where the light of the sunset didn't reach to.
At first, I thought my magic hadn't worked but when I came closer, I realized they had a human tied up.My guilt for killing those vampires in their sleeps was completely gone.
Monsters get punished.Working faster now that I knew I had to get a person out of here, I killed the rest of the vampires, one by one.
Satisfied with my accomplishment, I turned around, getting closer to their victim.
"Hey. This must be really scary, but it's over now. I'm getting you out of here...", I tried soothing the man, untying his feet first.
He was fixated to the wall 5 times, his eyes covered with a blind fold and his mouth stuffed with some tissue to keep him from talking.God, those vampires had been really thorough with keeping this one in place, it was almost like they were seriously scared he'd get loose.
He must've violently defended himself, otherwise there wouldn't be so many bruises apart from the obvious bite marks.
"You're gonna be fine..", I kept talking.
I decided to speed this up and fried the rope around his stomach, then reaching behind the man where his wrists were locked up. He wasn't moving and he had stopped making sounds, so I looked up to check if he was okay.
Looking at his face, I almost felt like I knew this man.
Like a deja vu.Could this-?
No.I swallowed audibly, reaching for the blind fold. My heart was beating so loud he was probably hearing it at this point.
In his eyes wasn't the fear I had been expecting.
It was surprise. Now that his hands were free, he reached for his mouth, getting rid of the tissue.
"Thanks, that was good work.", he coughed out, his voice strained as if he hadn't talked in a very long time and darker than I remembered it from back when we were younger."Justin!?"
