Derek.

I haven't seen Meredith since she left my office earlier today. I decided to give her some time to cool down.

It was the end of the day and I spent the rest of the day in my office waiting to see if Meredith would come back. She never did.

I get home two hours earlier than I usually do. When I get inside the house is quiet and dark. I turn on the light and go upstairs to the bedroom.

When I open the bedroom door I see the room is empty. She's not in bed and she's not in the bathroom. I open the closet and she's not in there either.

All her clothes her gone, and all her things are gone. I grab my phone and call her number. She doesn't pick up the first time so I try a few more.

She doesn't answer any of my phone calls so I just leave her a few messages. I don't know where she could be right now. Maybe she's just staying at a hotel until she isn't mad at me anymore.

I leave my phone next to me in the bathroom in case Meredith calls. I take a shower and go to bed.

***********

The next morning I woke up and checked my phone to see if Meredith tried calling me or texting me.

There's nothing except a few texts from my mother. I turn off my phone and get dressed. I go downstairs into the kitchen.

I tried calling Meredith a few more times but she didn't answer any of them. She didn't leave a note, she didn't text me, she didn't call me. She told me nothing. She just left.

I don't have the number of anyone she knows but she longs into her Instagram with my phone sometimes and I don't use Instagram.

I called Cristina using Meredith's account and let it ring for a while.

"I know this isn't Meredith calling because she's right next to me so what do you want?" She says as she answers the phone.

"I need to talk to Meredith," I say. "... she says no, she doesn't want to talk to you," she says. "Cristina, I need to make sure she's okay," I say.

"Don't cry, she's in more danger with you than she is with me. Look... you didn't hear this from me but I don't think it'll work out. She just left the room and I think she's coming over," she says.

"Alright, I'll wait for her," I say. "Alright, one thing though," she says. "Yeah?" I say. "When she's yelling at you wait until she's done yelling and then start apologizing for whatever you did. She hates it when people interpret her yelling," she says.

"Alright, thanks," I say. "Good luck, you'll need it," she says before hanging up the phone.

I eat something before I go into the living room and watch TV for a bit until she gets here.

After around twenty minutes I heard a car pull into the driveway. The front door opens. I stand up and walk and walk over to her.

"Don't- I'm just here to get some things I forgot yesterday," she says. "Meredith, I'm sorry about yesterday. It won't happen again," I say following her upstairs.

"I know it won't," she says. "So you believe me," I say as she goes into the bedroom. "No," she says. "Where were you last night? You didn't come home," I say as she grabs the rest of her things.

"I'm staying with Cristina for a while," she says. "Meredith, we had an argument, But we'll be fine," I say.

"Derek, I love you. You know that, but I don't know how on earth I'm supposed to do this if you can't do the least and tell me where you are," she says.

"What do you mean?" I say. "I mean us, Derek, you and I. Maybe if you can get your life together and now get yourself killed every minute we can try this again.. but not now, not with the way things are," she says.

She walks over to me and kisses me deeply. She pulls away and leaves the room.

Meredith.

I hold back my tears as I leave the house. I put my things in the car before leaving.

I arrived back at Cristina's place. I get out of the car and go inside.

"How's the boyfriend?" Owen asks as I walk inside the house. "How's the baby-making going?" I ask him.

"It would go better if you would help convince Cristina to go off birth control," he says. "Or if you make her like you enough maybe then she'll want to procreate with you," I say.

"Do you want kids?" He asks. "Not with you," I say. "No, not with me. In general, do you want kids?" He asks.

"I don't know, maybe one day if the right person comes along, but it's not something that I need to happen in my life," I say.

"I need it to happen," he says. "But Cristina doesn't... so if you want to have children with you, you have to be the right person or else she's going to throw you away like nothing like I just did with mine," I say before leaving the room and going to Cristina's room.

"So Owen still hasn't given up the whole baby thing?" I ask sitting on her bed. "No, I think I just need to get pregnant with another guy's baby and then he'll leave me and I'll get rid of it," she says.

"You're messed up, you know that?" I say. "Did you break up with him?" She asks. "Yeah, it's over," I say.

"Okay but you have to actually be over him because mafia leaders have a brutal way of bouncing back... that means he's going to sleep with a lot of hookers and strippers and make you hate yourself," she says.

"I've lost it now. I'll find someone else," I say. "Of course you will, you always do," she mumbles.
