Meredith.

Derek and I are now back home, his parents are a little upset that he didn't tell them the need before we left for Italy.

They haven't said anything about being upset about the engagement but I'm pretty sure they will the next time we see them.

As we were getting on the jet to fly back Derek gave the okay for Lizzie to tell the family so by the time we get back we wouldn't have to tell them.

We have to tell them about the baby and that's bigger than the engagement.

We went to an OBGYN in Italy and she said I was about four weeks which means the baby was conceived in Italy.

I definitely wasn't expecting to have a baby so soon, I mean Derek and I just got engaged. I was hoping to be married before I got pregnant.

Derek's really happy about the baby though. His hand is always on my stomach, he's always making sure I eat enough for the baby and he's always reminding me to take my pre-natal vitamins.

We already found a good OB here in Seattle and we'll be going to her for all the ultrasounds. The OB in Italy suggested that we should get a check-up every two weeks since the baby is a little small for its age.

She said it's nothing and that all I need to do is to make sure I always take the vitamins and eat big meals three times a day, especially at breakfast.

I'm not really used to eating breakfast every morning let alone a big breakfast but I do it so the baby can grow to a healthy size.

Derek already said he wants a girl but we'll have to wait four more months before we can find out the gender.

We're still not really sure about how or when we're going to tell Derek's family but I want to wait a bit longer, I want it to be just us who knows for a while so we can enjoy it before his parents decide to ruin it all.

"Derek, what are you doing?" I ask him as he's in one of the guest bedrooms moving things around, shirtless.

It's seven in the morning and I woke up to a lot of moving and the sound of a hammer.

"We need room for the baby so I was thinking we use one of the guest bedrooms. We rarely ever have guests and this is the second biggest bedroom in the house apart from our room," he says.

"Baby, you don't have to do this until the baby is actually coming and that's not for another eight months," I say leaning against the door.

"Yeah but that will be here before you know it," he says.

"Der, we still have a lot of other things we need to do and get before we have a whole room dedicated to the baby, and we still need to know the gender before picking a colour to paint the room," I say.

"Yeah, but I thought we could go with white and once we know the gender we can get the baby little toys and stuffed animals a specific colour," he says.

"Derek I'm thrilled that you're so happy about becoming a father and I know you'll make an amazing one but right now I need you to come downstairs because both of your parents are here and there's no way I can take on the both of them alone," I say.

"What? Why are they here?" He says placing the hammer down and standing up.

"I'm not sure why their here, they said we need to talk," I say. "We?" He asks as he's now standing in front of me.

"I don't know but I know I don't want to go back down there alone," I say. "How's the baby, are you still feeling sick?" He says softly placing his hand on my stomach, rubbing it gently.
