...LOOKING back, it has been two years already since I started to see the world around me a lot better.
Before, it was all grey and dark; blurry and distorted. There was nothing but pitch darkness.
Until one day, the alluring sunrise came to shed light on my life again. The jubilant feeling and the warmth that my skin feels every time I sit by the bay in a bark of wood had made its ways into my sight again to flash orange and luminous feelings.
The things that I have always heard about but never actually knew how to imagine in my mind. I can describe those now.
I can now see the world.
Because it has been two years already since I regained my sight, after being blind for half the years of my life.
And sitting here at the back of the classroom near the window made me reflect on all the things that have changed.
I can now see the professor as he speaks in front with his deep voice, just fitting for his looks and age. I can also notice my classmates who are secretly passing down notes while having those silly smirks on their faces.
I can now see them all.
Since I regained my sight, I have always been an observer of how others react, act, or how even their facial movements signify things. For instance, a little eyebrow raise can mean that they're being bitter. But it can also mean that they are bored.
There are many signs that I have learned over the past years after regaining my sight, as a form of my new interest.
The meaning when someone's face flushes, when our shoulders fall, even when our lips slightly rise symmetrically. The way a person acts when with someone and even the very silence can have its own meanings. That's what I learned.
There are some small signs that can still tell us a lot about what someone is feeling.
Some signs are pretty easy to see and define.
The muscles around someone's eyes when tightened means that they are feeling dismal. Wrinkles around the eyes, cheeks raised, lip corners elevated diagonally.
It's just a matter of a short glance to know many things about someone.
Well, that's what I call my List of Signs.
The List Of Signs that I use for many purposes. But, most importantly-for making her notice me.
A list of signs containing gentle and indirect ways of confession. A list just for her.
That one special girl. Retina.
Being the introverted person that I am, it is hard to speak out my affection.
My affection for her that grew deeper with time.
That feeling when I see her, that makes me freeze, elated; as my heart races and my right lip corner rises diagonally. Making everything around me a space of silence, as my sight focuses only on her.
Funny, isn't it?
How everything was new to my sight, but she immediately became the most beautiful I've seen. She puts the orange in my sunrise that I have always admired to look at.
Well... I'm not just gonna look anymore.
The sky had already made the path visible for me to get near her again. I won't waste the opportunity.
I may not be that attractive or talkative. But I'm going to make her like me with everything that I am. That's the plan.
Because I like her.
